Monday Sept 16th 1822 First part fresh winds and squaly from S S W middle part light winds latter part light airs and calm employed in getting our cutting pennants and blocks aloft at 2 PM saw A shole of sperm whale put off struck 2 killed one at 5 P M took him along side and cut from the other and lost it 2 harpoons and one lance Lat by obs 33 – 15 Long 15 – 30

Tuesday Sept 11th “ 1822 All these 24 hours light winds and pleasant weather from the Northward at day light [hogan?] Began to cut in our sperm whale at P M finished cutting and cleaned away the head at 7 set the fore sail and stear S S West saw nothing

Wednesday Sept 18th “ 1822 Light winds and calm and smokey weather from the northward employed in tying our sperm whale saw nothing so ends this day Lat by obs 33 - - 33 Long 44 – 40

Friday Sept 20th 1822 First part of these 24 hours squals of wind and fog with thunder from the Eastward middle part light winds and foggey Latter part light winds and fine weather from the Westward finished tying and stowed down 50 Blls of sperm oil spoke the South America West of Nantucket 50 Blls of sperm oil chased several right whale Lat b obs 34 – 18 Long by 47 – 12

Saturday Sept 21 “ 1822 First part light winds and pleasant at W S W stear S by East middle and Latter part strong winds of S West head S S E and S E under a fore sail and close reefed main top sail saw one right whale Lat by obs 35 - - 10 Long by Lunar 46 - - [21 or 26?]

Sunday Sept 22nd “ 1822 First part fresh winds from the southward head in West middle and Latter part light winds from the Eastward at 5 A M saw one right whale put of struck and killed him at 8 took him along side and cut him in at 2 P M struck and killed and cut in another at 4 spoke the ship Fanny of London Rue master bound round Cape horn Lat by obs 34 – 59 - - Long 46 – 33
