Wednesday Sept 25th “ 1822 First and middle part fresh winds and squaly from the Southward Latter part more moderate stowed down 120 Blls of oil in the fore peak saw no wahle the South America in sight Lat by obs 34 58 Long 44 – 50

Thursday Sept 26th “ 1822 All these 24 hours fresh Breeses from the Eastward stear S S E an the win at 2 PM saw one whale put off and chased but could not strike him employed in sundrys Lat by obs 35 “ 48 Long 41 - - 35

Friday Sept 27 “ 1822 First part fresh Breeses from the Eastward steared on the wind to the S S East middle part fresh gales from the N East at 3 PM hauled the top sails Latter part strong gales and A great swell from the N East took in the waist boat and turned up the standard quarter boat ends this day with heavy gales Lat by obs 37 03 Long 46 “ 55

Saturday Sept 28th 1822 First part [fore sl?] gales and rain with a heavy sea it is East middle and latter part strong winds and rugged at W S W head N W under A lost reefed main top sail and stay sails saw nothing but out Lat by obs 36 - - 55 Long 46 - 20

Sunday Sept 29th First part of these 24 hours fresh breeses and rugg from the west Latter part Light winds and pleasant with A large swell from the W S W and N East set all sail stear E S East saw one ship standing to the west ward saw plenty of [fout?] so ends Lat by obs 35 – 36 - - Long by Lunary 46 - - 04

Monday Sept 30th “ 1822 All these 24 hours fresh breeses and rugged from the Southward stear off South East at 12 PM tack to West at 5 PM saw 2 whales at 1 took in sail head in W S W employed in cleaning lone Lat by obs 24 24 Long 45 50

Tuesday [Sept(strikethrough)] October 1st “ 1822 First part fresh Breeses from the southward middle and latter part Light winds and fine weather from S East stear in to the Westward saw no whales spoke the manthe of New bedford 3 whales Lat by obs 36 - - 59 – Long by 46 – 59

Wednesday October 2nd First and middle part light winds and calm from the southward head in W S W Latter part fresh Breeses from the Westward saw one whale put of and struck him at 11 AM cut the line and lost one harpoon Lat by obs 37 – 07 Long 47 00

Thursday October 3rd “ 1822 First part fresh gales at S S West head in West middle part Light airs and squaly with rain Latter part fresh breeses at W S W S S East to rugge Lat by obs 36 – 55 Long 46 - 44

28 Friday October 4th 1822 Strong gales at W SW and large swell head south at 6 AM set the [fore?] sail and 2 reefed main top sail at 8 [AM?] several whale employed in mending an old top galant sail lat by obs 37-20 long 46-00

Saturday.. October 5th 1822 First part of these 24 hours strong gales and large swell at W S West at 6AM veered ship to N West middle and latter part light airs and calm with squals of rain from the south at 6 AM saw one whale put off and struck him the iron drawed and lost him steer WN West saw A number of fin backs saw 2 sails to the N West lat by DR 37-06 long 45-50

Snday October 6th 1822 First part of these 24 hours light airs and calm with squals of rain from the south middle and last part fresh gales and squaly at SS East head east under A 2 [refed?] main top sail and fore sail and stay sails Lat by obs 36-42 Long 45-58

Monday October 7th 1822 First part fresh winds and squals of rain from the southward steer of east and east by north middle and latter part light airs and calm saw nothing lat by obs 36-09 long 46-22 by lunar

Tuesday Oct 8th First part of these 24 hours clear and calm middle and latter part light wins from the N East saw one whale put off struck and killed him and sunk him last 3 harpoons saw a number of fin backs spoke the [smudge] [Nelen?] 3 whales so endsd this day lat by obs 36-54 long* 46-32

Wednesday October 9th 1822 29

All these 24 hours light winds and fine weathers from the eastward at 7 AM. Saw several whales. Put of[f]. Struck and killed one at 10. Took him along side and cut him in at 4 PM. Struck and killed another and cabled him. The hellen in sight. She got 2 whales

Thursday October 10th 1822

Throughout these 24 hours light winds and pleasant from the eastward. Employed in trying and cut in our whale. Still in company with the hellen. Saw no whales.

Friday Oct 11th 1822

All these 24 hours light winds and pleasant from the East southwardly. Employed in trying and stowing down 70 Blls of oil in the [chaised?] 2 whales. Struck one of them the iron [draws?] and lost him.

Saturday October 12th 1822

All these 24 hours light winds and fine weather from E N East. Employed in trying and killed and cut in 2 whales. The helen in sight. Saw several whales.

Sunday Oct. 13th 1822

Throughout these 24 hours light breezes and fine weather from the Eastward. Head S East. Employed in trying and stowing down 95 Blls of oil in the after hatch. Saw several whales.

First part of these 24 hours light winds and pleasant from the East. Middle and latter part fresh winds at N East. Employed in trying down [crossed out] and stowing down 60 Blls [barrels] of oil in the fore hole. The helen in sight. Saw no whale. Lat by obs 36-34 long 47-00

First and middle part at of these 24 hours fresh winds and rain at NN East. Head East. Latter part light winds and cloudy at the Northward. Head East. Saw a sail to the S East. Saw 2 whales. Employed in storing down 70 Blls [barrels] of oil in the main hatch.

Lat by DR 38--20 Long 46- 30

Thursday October 17th 1822

First part light winds at NN East. Head North. Middle and latter part fresh winds and rugged at E N East. Head North. Ends with rain. [Find the fore sail and spanker and clost reefed the main top sail. Saw nothing. Lat by DR 37 50 Long 47-00

Friday Oct 18th 1822

First part of these 24 hours [crossed out start] light winds and calm [crossed out end] fresh winds and rain at NNE. Middle and latter part light [airs?] and calm from the southward. Steer NW. Employed in cleaning [bone?]. Lat by obs 38-20 Long * 45 - 00
