Friday December 6th “ 1822 First and middle part Light winds and calm at S E Latter part fresh winds at N West employed in tying saw several whales spoke the george and Martha Randol of New Bedford 1000 Blls of oil head in West at 12 AM tack to N E Lat by obs 39 – 53 Long at 7AM 42 – 15

Saturday Dec 7th “ 1822 First part fresh winds from the North head in west middle part strong gales and rugged at day Light finished tying and took in the waist boat Latter part strong gales and main at N W at 11 AM took the wind at South veered ship to W S West ends with rain and heavy sea on and plenty of wha Lat by D R 40 – 15 Long 42 – 25

Sunday December 8th All these 24 hours light winds from the Westward finished slowing down our oil and struck and killed 3 whales took 2 along side and cut one in and part of the other at 9 PM cabled him for the Night saw 2 sail and A plenty of whale Lat by obs 40 – 16 Long 42 – 57

Monday Dec 9th All these 24 hours Light winds and fine weather employed in cutting in and tying struck one whale the iron drawed and lost him saw 2 ships one A cutting the other A tying so ends the day Lat by obs 40 22 Long 42 – 50

Tuesday December 10th ‘ 1822 First part Light winds at N N E head of East at 6 PM veer ship to N W middle part fresh winds and fog at N N West latter part fresh gales and rain [at(strikethrough)] stowed down 90 Blls of oil in the after hatch at 12 PM slacke the [Tryvonse?] and furled the fore sail saw nothing Lat by D R 40 35 Long 42 - 55

Wednesday Dec 11th First part of these 24 hours fresh winds and rain at N N West middle part the weather moderates and hauls to the southward at 1 AM Light the [tymorks?] Latter part Light winds at south veer ship to E N E and make sail employed in tying and stowed down 40 Blls of oil in the fore latch chaised and saw several whales but could not strike Lat by obs 40 – 05 Long 42 – 50

Thursday Dec 12th “ 1822 First and middle part Light winds and calm Latter part fresh Breeses at S W by South stear of to the south and East saw no whales at 2 PM tack to W N W saw A sail to the southward finished stowing down oil and cleaned fore Lat by obs 40 – 19 Long 42 – 40

Friday Dec 13th “ 1822 First part fresh Breeses from the southward stear in West mid and Latter part Light airs and calm saw 3 Whales Loan the boats and chais but could not strike so ends the day A little down in the North Lat by D R 40 – 08 Long 42 - - 50

Sunday December 14 - - - - First part of these 24 hours Light airs and calm from the N and Eastward mid part fresh Breeses from the West Latter part fresh winds from the Southward at 7 AM took to N East at 10 saw A Dead whale and several live ones haul on the wind to the Westward at 12 PM tack to S E by East and take in the top sails Lat by obs 40 – 07 Long 42 – 45

Sunday Decber 15th “ All these 24 hours fresh Breeses from the South at AM set single reefed top sails head W N West saw several whales going quick to the westward at 1 tack to the Eastward stear off throughout the day saw nothing But fin backs at sun set the water Blue took in sail and head to the west ward southward the wind to the Westward Lat by obs 39 – 47 Long 42 – 20

Monday Decn 16th “ First part of these 24 hours fresh Breeses from S West steared E by South middle part calm Latter part take the wind at North at 6 AM saw 2 whales put off and chaised but could not strike at 11 the wind increases to A fresh gale and rain took sails in all sail but A clost reefed main top sail and stays head W NW so ends the day - - Lat obs 40 – 05 – Long 41 – 15

Tuesday December 17th First part strong gales and rain at N N West at sun set the wind hauls to the Westward and freshens to A strong gale new ship to the Northward and turn up the standard boat mid and Latter part strong gales and heavy sea at W S W saw nothing ends rugged Lat by obs 39 – 45 Long had sight 45

Wednesday Decn 18th First part strong gales at W S West head N West at sun set the gale moderates wave ship to south middle part Light airs and calm at W N West at 6 AM cloudy set the top sails stear E S East at 8 took the wind at W S West in A squall took in the top sails and fore sail and have to head south Latter part hard gales and hard sea in took in the waist boat saw nothing so ends the day Lat by obs 39 – 45 Long had Light 46 – 20

Thursday Decn 19th First and mid part of these 24 hours heavy gales and great swell at S West at 10 P M veered ship to W N W Latter part the gale moderates set the fore sail and ran to E S East saw several fin backs and 2 right whales employed in mending sails ends with fresh gals and rugged Lat by obs 39 – 40 Long by Lunar 44 – 21 [61 PM?]

Friday Decn 20th First part fresh winds and rugged at W S West Mid part more moderate the wind hauls to the N West Latter part fresh gales and rain from the West spoke the Herald of New Bedford g whales saw nothing Lat by D R 40 – 10 Long by 44 – 20

Saturday 21st December First and mid part fresh gals and rugged at S West Latter part the weather moderates and hauls to the South head S E employed in mending the main top sail at 12 PM set all sail steared N E in co with the Herald of new Bedford Neeal saw nothing Lat by obs 41 16 Long by 43 – 35

Monday Decn 23rd First and middle part fresh Breeses at N West Latter part light winds and rains and foggey the winds west at 12 PM the wind hauls to the southward and the weather Lights up at 3 PM saw whales put of struck and killed one at sun set take him along side and cabled him saw one sail to the West ward Lat by DR 41 – 10 long 43 – 15

Tuesday 24th Decn First and middle part light winds from the Eastward Latter part Light winds and foggey employed in cutting our whale and stowing 50 Blls of oil saw several whales Lat by D R 41 – 15 Long 43 – 25

Wednesday Decn 25th First part fresh winds at N N West at 6 PM veered ship to N E M part strong gales and cloudy Latter squalls of rain at 10 AM took the wind at S West and rugged finished tying and chocked off the after hatch saw nothing - - - Lat by DR 41 – 50 Long 43 – 25
