JOHN B. HAWLEY, HYDRAULIC ENGINEER, MEMBER AMERICAN SOCIETY CIVIL ENGINEERS, CITY ENGINEER, FORT WORTH,

FORT WORTH, TEXAS 19th. 1901.

PROPOEAL FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF A THREE ROOM, ONE STORY FRAME SCHOOL HOUSE, IN THE SEVENTH WARD, CITY OF FORT WORTH, TEXAS.

Honorable The Mayor and City Council, Fort Worth, Texas.

Gentlemen:-

In response to your notice to Contractors, dated September 14th., 1901, a copy of which is hereto attached and made a part hereof, the undersigned hereby propose to furnish all material and labor necessary to the complete construction of a three room, one story frame school house, to be located in the Seventh Ward the City of Fort Worth, on property designated by said City, strictly in accordance with the plans and specifications for the said work, on file in the office of John B. Hawley, City Engineer, for the lump sum of twenty four hundred Dollars $2400

The undersigned hereby agree, in case this proposal is accepted, to furnish the required bond, with good and sufficient sureties, to be approved by the Mayor of Ft. Worth, and to enter into contract with the City of Ft. Worth within three (3) days after notice of such acceptance, and to fully complete the entire work within thirty days after signing said contract.

In the event of the refusal or the neglect of the undersigned to furnish the required bond--with said sureties-and to enter into contract as above stipulated, then the said city shall have the right to retain and to convert the avails of the certified check, herewith submitted, to and for the sole use and benefit of the city, as liquidated damages for said refusal or neglect.

And we further declare that we have carefully examined the specifications and plans for the work, and the form of contract and bone for same, and also the premises upon which the work is to be done, and that by personal examination of said premises, and be other means, have satisfied . . . . . . . . as to the nature of said work; and will contract to perform all work and furnish all materials and labor necessary and proper for the purpose, and to complete the work within the time herein mentioned and on the conditions mentioned described and set forth in this proposal and the said notice, form of contract, plans and specifications.

And we further declare that we fully understand that all measurements that may necessarily be made during the course of the work, are to "net" and not "customary" or rule measurement.

The State of Texas County of Tarrant

Before me, the undersigned authority, on this day personally appeared Leonard M. Leach, to me well known, who, being by me first duly sworn, upon his oath depose and say that he, the said affiant, Leonard M. Leach, is a son of one Thomas Leach, who departed this life on the 13th day of March, 1899. That the said Thomas Leach was twice married, his first wife having been Eliza Leach, affiants mother, who died in 1899 or 1890. That afterward, in 1893, or about that time, Thomas Leach married his second wife, who was named Fanny Leach and who is still living. That no children were born to the said Thomas Leach and Fanny Leach. That the said Thomas Leach left surviving him eight children as follows, to wit:- 1. Delia Leach, who married R. L. Brown and is still living. 2. Alonzo R. Leach, who is still living. 3. George Leach, who is still living. 4. Annie Leach, who married J. S. Jackson and afterward died, leaving two children, to-wit: Aline Jackson, who was never married and died in 1900 without issue, and Elsie Jackson, a minor, who is living. 5. Elmer Leach, who is living. 6. Nona Leach, who is Living. 7. Leonard M. Leach, who is living. 8. Albert S. Leach, who is living. That Nona Leach, Leonard M. Leach, Albert S. Leach and Fanny Leach are alone interested in and are sole owners of the Thomas Leach homestead in Fort Worth, Texas, the other heirs above named having conveyed to them or being barred by judgments rendered in this County.
