Mary Ruth Slaton diary, 1936

May 30th 1936 Sat Mother & I cleaned Mother's room today Cousin Lenora & Curtis came this afternoon. I have been to see Uncle Brack several times today. He is better. Dad has been in bed nearly all day.

May 31st 1936 Sun Dad has been in bed all day. I wen't to Uncle Brack's several times today. Mother went with me this afternoon.

June 1st 1936 Mon. Dad is some better. I wrote a card to Rex. Uncle Brack wen't to town. I wen't to see Amy Florance a little while this morning. She is feeling real bad today.

June 2nd 1936 Tue Mother & I washed today. I wen't to Ocie's this afternoon. Amy Florence isn't any better. I wen't to Uncle Brack's also.

June 3rd 1936 Wed. I ironed and cleaned up the house. I wen't to see Ocie a little while and wen't to Uncle Brack's and wen't to Tiny's but she wasn't at home so I went to Mr. Frank Borland's Mrs. Borland's Mother is dead.

June 4th 1938 Thu. Mother & I wen't to Mr. Frank Borland's this morning. We wen't to Mrs. Borland's Mother's funeral at the church. Rev. Anderson preached the funeral ocie & children came this afternoon.

June 5th 1936 Fri. Uncle Brack & I wen't to town today and I got some new slippers and hat. I spen't the day at Mrs. Mann's, Amy Florence had her tonsils & adnoise [adenoids] removed today.

June 6th 1936 Sat. Amy Florance came home from the hospital this morning. Mother & I wen't to see her this afternoon. Rex came tonight.

June 7th 1936 Sun Dad has been awful sick today. We had Dr. Ross to come to see him this afternoon. Agnus, Joe, James Ashby & Kathryn came this afternoon Rex wen't home this afternoon.

June 8th 1936 Mon. Mr. & Mrs. Ashby came to see Dad this morning. Dad is a little better. Uncle Brack & Uncle Tom Stone(inst.) wen't to town today. Ocie came this afternoon.

June 9th 1936 Tue. Joe came a little while this morning. Lin, Jessie, Miss Jennie Greer and Mr. Wiley Hopgood came this afternoon. I embroidered a little this afternoon.

June 10th 1936 Wed. I wrote a letter to Rex. Ocie Pauline and Cecil came this afternoon. Dad is some better. I am nearly sick today.

June 11th 1936 Thu. I have been nearly sick today. nothing happened unusual. I helped do the general house work.

June 12th 1936 Fri Mother & I washed this morning & ironed this afternoon. Mr. & Mrs. Merrill Elmer Lindsay and Mrs. Rigney came a little while this afternoon. Mr. Stone wen't to town today.

June 13th 1936 Sat. I cleaned up the house this morning. Rex came this afternoon and I came home with him.

June 14th 1936 Sun Sis went to Sunday School this morning and I got dinner. Albert & Edna came a little while this morning. Sis went to Mary's & Modest's this afternoon. Loyd & Fletcher came this afternoon. Stella came a little while. Lin & Jessie came also. Minnie Lou Mrs. Rigney Sis & I went to Browden's tonight.

[Left hand page] Daily Diary June 15th 1936 Mon. I started cleaning my room today. Mr. & Mrs. Mevill Elmer Linsay and Leona came this afternoon and they put a quilt in the frames.

Daily Diary June 16th 1936 Tue. I painted the floor in my room today Amelia came this afternoon and quilted a little. I quilted some also.

[Right hand page] Daily Diary June 17th 1936 Wed Sis has been nearly sick today. Sis went to town today and got for me a new rug for my room andI finished cleaning my room and painted the doors in the kitchen. Leona came this afternoon and Sis & Leona quilted some. I quilted a little also.

June 18th 1936 Thu. Leona, Mrs. Rich & her two children, Mrs. Rigney, Samuel, Mrs. Hanner & William Ross came this morning. Mary Mr. & Mrs. Mevill came this afternoon and we finished quilting the quilt.
