Mayonnaise Salad Dressing 1 egg yolk 1 t flour 1 C salad oil 3 T lemon juice 1 t salt Put the yolk, lemon juice + flour into a small bowl. Beat with egg beater till well mixed, then pour about ½ t of oil in at the side of the bowl + beat with beater in such a way as to draw the oil gradually into the egg mixture. When the oil is well beaten into the yolk pour in another ½ t oil + beat it in. As the Process goes on, a larger amt [amount] of oil may be poured in at a time.

Continue till the dressing becomes as thick as it is liked. Then beat in the salt. The flour may be omitted, but it helps the yolk to take up the oil. Success in making it depends upon adding the oil slowly, especially at first. This dressing will keep a week or more in a cold place.

{1 ½ receipt} Ice Cream

1½ 2 qts milk 4 6 t cornstarch
3 4 eggs a pinch of salt
½ + ⅛ or ⅝ lb ¾ lb sugar
Rub starch in a little cold milk; beat the eggs + sugar to gether, bring milk to a boil then stir in cornstarch; remove from the fire at once. Stir in the eggs + sugar throughly to keep the eggs from hardening When the cream is cold add flavoring + freeze.

Mustard Pickles 2 qts of tomatoes cut fine 2 qts of cucumbers cut fine 2 qts of onions cut fine One large cauliflower Put these in 1 pt of salt + 4 qts water + let sit 24 hours. Next morning 1 cup sugar 1 cup flour 6 T mustard 2 heaping T tumeric Mix these in just enough cold vinegar to make a smooth paste and add one cup sugar 2 qts cold vinegar boil until it thickens then add vegetables + let them heat through.

To Clean a Stove a cloth diped in vinegar and rubbed over the kitchen stove before blackened will remove all grease. To Remove Warts Touch the wart with caustic potassa or liquid potassa [potash]. Ink Stains Wet throughly with spirits or turpentine. Machine grease Apply cold rain water and soda. Felon. Take one t of soft soap, mix with air slacked lyme Put on [rill felon?] [.] removed.
