A balun board that Steve found on his desk (no date) that had a bad eyelet on pin 7 has been resoldered and dc tested.

After running the temperature recorder on the disk chiller water for the past 22 hours it is clear that the chiller is behaving properly, i.e.; the temperature remained constant ±2°F. The original disk alarm (pg. 130) was probably caused because the alarm thermostat was set too close to the chillers temp. operating range. The thermostat setting has been set 3°F higher than its origianl value of 58°F. The alarm will trip when the thermostat is set to 48°F. Therefore the thermostat is set 5°F higher than the present temperature. The temp. chart is shown below (53°F on the chart corresponds to 48°F on the thermostat):

The remaining 4 twisted pair on the Ampex Interface (Klug wires) were replaced by Ted. We are now trying to find out why the Ampex memory does not work.

1645 After 4 hours and 45 min. of emergency maintenance and 5 modules, the Ampex Interface has been fixed. The bad modules were: 1-B134, 2-B165's, 1-B204, and 1-B630. It is not known why these modules failed.

Tried to put up 3.15/10 AMPEX CORE 1 stopped getting data. All words seem to get to AMPEX MB as 0. Cycles are completed and the MA is recieved correctly.

CP MA bit 22 lamp is intermittent.

Problem with AMPEX was 2 timing pulses in read timing delay line. Cause was opening of terminating resistor in delay line. Jumper to end of delay line had never been soldered to delay line. Added solder to joint. Bug fixed. Ran 3 copies of 40K BLTST in disk system for 15 min. SRR

Found that DP kept getting NON EX MEM from Ampex Core 1.

B137 1/2 at J22 wouldn't produce output (GND) at D.

I₂P₂ GO clamped load coard at H23 had open diode in the forward drop string for pin H.

B204 at H22 wouldn't set by grounding pin P.

Down at 2130 2 hrs + 30 min down.

Checked into QI failure and found a capacitor shorted which caused the H.V. isolation transformer to burn up. Replaced Transformer and capacitor. Found probably cause of capacitor failure to be a 4 KV spike on HV input when HU was turned. Tried various methods to remove spike with no luck. Only reasonable solution seems to be to remove HV. Reed relay and replace put a similarly controlled relay on the primary of the H.V. supply to produce a gradual HV buildup and turnoff.

Also last night installed a [?] to AMPEX Boxes that makes a NULL cycle happen as if complete and turn on VA rather than hanging waiting for WDA. This makes "hanging" bugs easier to scope. CHanges is wire from 2DG46 to 2DB15
