Councilman Niesz not voting. 1018 An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance granting to the Commercial Mill Company]] the right to erect poles and stretch wires thereon for Electric pruposes" which is passed by the following vote viz:In favor of the same Burns, Durie, Jones, McCombs, McDonald, Niesz and Reitze. Claim of David Ferguson The City Atty makes a verbal report on the claim of David Ferguson for damages for injuries sustained by being run over by a hose cart at a fire on Yesler's Wharf. That the said Ferguson has no legal claim for damages against the city but as he is an old man, and indigent, he recommends that the City pay the claimant the sum of $200.00 On motion the report is adopted and the clerk instructed to draw a warrant in favor of said David Ferguson for the sum of $200.00, upon the said Ferguson filing a release of all claims against the City in the office of the City Clerk.

665 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Nov 23 1888 Ordered that the Plat of Summit Park Addition to the City of Seattle be referred to the City Surveyor & City Attorney. Ordered that the Plat of Cable Line addition to the City of Seattle be and the same is hereby approved. On motion of Councilman Burns the Street Commissioner is authorized and empowered to employ mean and teams to clean up the City Front. On motion the matter of repairing the City Jail is referred to the Chairman of the Committee on Health and Police and Com on Public Buildings and Grounds. Ordinance 1020 An Ordinance is submitted entitled "An Ordinance to amend section 1 of Ordinance No 964, approved July 20th 1888 and entitled 'An Ordinance granting a franchise to J M Thompson and his associates for a Cable Street Railway in the City of Seattle' and as amended by Ordinance No 1014 approved November 17th 1888" which is passed by the following vote, to wit: In favor of the same J F Burns, D E Durie, Joseph Green, Thos E Jones, James McCombs, J F McDonald and C F Reitze. Against the same none. 1021 An Ordinance is submitted bythe City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance to provide for the grading of Second Street in the City of Seatle from Pine Street to Blanchard Street and constructing sidewalks on both sides of said Second Street" which is passed by the following vote, to wit: Ayes Burns, Durie, Green, Jones, McCombs, McDonald & Reitze. Ordered that the Council do now adjourn, Approved Robert Moran mayor Attest W R Forrest Clerk Dec 12 1888 Be it remembered that on this 12th day of Dec A D !888 the Common COuncil of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to call of the Mayor for a special meeting, duly made and served upon each of the Councilmen The following officers are present, to wit: His Honor the Mayor and Councilmen Burns, Durie, Green Jones McDonald Niesz & Reitze. His Honor the Mayor states that the object of the meeting is to take some action to prevent the spread of small pox in the City also to incidentally discuss street grades, Street improvement warrants etc. The Health Officer being called upon for a statement reports nearly half orf the cases having come to the City from abroad and suggested more stringent
