Depot Street Assessment Roll Pursuant to law and published notice the Council now proceeds to examine and equalize the assessment roll of the Assessment dictrict established by Ordinance No 928, entitled "An Ordinance to widen extend and establish Depot Street in the city of Seattle and to provide for the condemnation of real estate necessary therefor" and on one appearing to contest the same and no objection being made thereto it is ordered that the said roll be and the same is hereby approved. Tax Levy on Fifth Street & Bell Street Ordered that a tax of two hundred seventy four and 3/4 (274&3/4) mills on each and every dollar of the assessed valuation of all the property included within the assessment district created by Ordinance No 905 be and the same hereby is levied on siad property for the purpose of paying for the improvement of Fifth

The Following officers are present: His Hon the Mayor Robert Moran, Councilmen D E Durie, Jos Green J E Jones, Jas McCombs, J F McDonald - U R Niesz C F Reitsz and Dep Clerk C W Ferris. The following proceedings are had, to wit: Petitions etc. Petition of Adam Reis for permission to Blast on the Hill property on Jackson Street: Read and granted subject to the usual restrictions. Remonstrance of B A Anderson et al against the changing of the grade of Fifth Street at Depot Street Read and referred to Street Committee. Petition of H L Taylor for a street light at the corner of 6th and Blanchard Streets Read and granted Communication from W R Brawley asking that the license granted to Alden S Chase for selling liquor be revoked. Read and Referred to License & Revenue Com. Petition of A A Kopf for the lease of a portion of Spring Street Read and Tabled. Petition of Chas R Brown et al asking for a change of grade on Tenth Street Between Terrace & Cedar Sts Read and referred to Street Committee. Petition of Jensen & Koch for permission to change liquor license. Read and referred to license & Rev Com Remonstrance of John Graf against the Fifth St grade Read and referred to Street Committee.

599 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Sep 7 1888 to the Finance Committee. From Harbor Master read and ordered filed and the Harbor Master directed to cause the floating piles complained of to be removed. From City Treasurer read and referred to Finance Com. From Street Commissioner referred to Street Com and returned approved. Committee Reports Received From Com on Fire & Water rejecting petition of Mrs N Lewis & son for permission to alter and repair the St Charles Hotel for the reason that to add a story of 16 feet would be as clearly against the law as to erect a one story wooden building. Adopted. from Same Committee rejecting petition of Wah Chong & Co for permission to put up a corrugated iron bulding on South Third Street and also to make certain repairs and alterations to wooden buildings as it is clearly against the law. adopted. From Committee on Streets granting the petitionof Chas R Brown and others for modification of Tenth Street grade at Terrace, Alder, and Cedar Streets Adopted. Form Same Committee rejecting petiton of John Graf fro a change of grade of Fifth Street. Adopted. From Same Committee granting petition of E F Adams for the use of Court Street in South Seattle for a brick yard. Adopted. From the City Attorney on claim of Wm Murphy as follows ''I have examined the enclosed claim of Ex-Chief of Police Wm Murphy and recommend that the same be disallowed as in my opinion that City is not
