To the Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Seattle:-

The undersigned, your petitioners, respectfully represent:-

That they are all and each of them citizens of the City of Seattle, County of King and State of Washington

That the extension of the license limits beyond the limits established by the Common Council of the City of Seattle on the Fourth day of October 1889, would be of great and serious detriment to those parts of the City of Seattle which would be by such and extension included license limits.

That the limits proposed by the ordinance entitles "An Ordinence Establishing a Saloon Limit within the City of Seattle within which Limit Licenses for the sale of Intoxicating Liquors may be Granted Pursuant to the Charter of the City of Seattle" now pending before the Honorable House of Delegates to whom this petition is here with presented include upon Yesler and Third Street and other streets localities of said City of Seattle devoted to largely and in part wholly to uses for residence purposes and also includes several of the leading churches in said City of Seattle.

That the passage of said Ordinance by the City Council will be Detrimental to the good order and quiet of said Streets and a great injury to the residence upon said Streets and to the people of Seattle as a whole.

That we have received notice to vacate said tents by the First of March next; that on account of the severe winter which we have had the rainy season setting in the business buildings now in course of erection being unfinished and therefore your petitioners cannot find places in which to occupy in their various business before the first of May next.

Therefore we feel that it is a matter of common justice to us for you to extend the time in which for us to vacate said tents until the First day of May next and if this request is complied with on your part we promise a cheerful compliance with an order to vacate at the time designated to-wit: May 1st, 1890. Your petitioner further state that the severity of the inter has been the cause of a bad business by many of us therefore we feel that under the circumstances surrounding us that we can reasonably hope for the releif prayed for herein.
