WHEREAS the school building in the 8th Ward is entirely inadequate for the needs of the school in that rapidly growing portion of the city
AND WHEREAS the funds of the city are in such a condition that there is no possibility of now building for said ward such a commodious new school building as said ward needs and deserves , Now Therefore
BE IT RESOLVED that the City Engineer be instructed to at once make an estimate of the cost of putting said 8th ward school building in thorough repair, and of adding an additional room, and such other additions as shall in his opinion and that of the principal of said school be necessary to the health and comfort of the pupils of said school, and that he return such estimate immediately to the School Committee in order that they may take action on such improvements by the next meeting of the Council.

WHEREAS the roof of the fire station No. 4 & 5 is in very bad condition, and in such condition that a new roof is in all probability necessary, and
WHEREAS the wall of station No. 5 is in bad condition and needs immediate repairing, Now Therefore BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council that the City Engineer be instructed to at once examine the said stations and report what in his opinion is necessary to put the same in good condition and the cost of the same.
