Erysipelas vel St. Anthonys Fire
This comes to a Crisis in about 3 Days Diag. It begins with a Chiliness and Shivering heat Loss of Strength a Violent Pain in the head and Back Vomiting and Delirium On the 3rd or 4th Day the Malignant matter is thrown out on the Surface of the Skin and often affects the head and Face.
Cure Bleed if the Patient is plethoric or addicted to Spiritous liquors or the Disease attacks the Head After Bleeding give Gentle Diaphoretics Purgation is improper unless the Disease Seizes the Head in which Case omit it not. Apply ye following Cathartic.
Haustus Catharticus Salinus Rx. Sal. Cath. qm. Mann. aa dr. vj. boiling aq. Font. oz. iij. disolve the Salt and Mann. in the aq. Colat. ad Tinct. Cardamoms dr. ss. Rx. Bacc. Samb. oz. j. vel Mindereus Spt. Rx. Sal. Vol. Ammoniac any Quant. Drop Spt. Vinegar on it 'till the Effervescence ceases This is Diuretic and Diaphoretic and good in the Rheumatism and Putrid Fevers.
