Candles I got $1.00 worth of Candles yesteday (24.) The last candles I got the 1st. of Augt. (24) Candles they have lasted 45 days Nearly 2 Candles a night this is extravgt. Jim $2. All hands quit today at dinner worked one half day paid Jim $2.00 he is working at $1.50 pr day & has worked up to this time 5 1/2 days. Preston $.50 Bull's Bitters } Paid Preston $.50 I got a bottle of Bull's Sasperilla bitters give $2.50

Sun 15 The morning is a little cloudy & quite warm. Mrs. Mash dead } I hear of the death of Old Mrs. Mash yesterday She was the widow of Obedish Mash that was in the war with me in 1813 All. Killed }I learn that a Negro boy by the name of Patterson shot & killed Alfrond Porter (Col) last night & made his escape. Wm William went to Calioca this morning & returned at night.

Mon 16 The morning a little cloudy & verry warm No work the Brick layers & all hands are not at work today going to Alfred's buring & after went to hunt the Murderer they don't seem to come up with him

George ) stand it long the most excessive head ake & fever, I think George H. ( & Jack ) I cannot stand it but a few days if I don't git better. All hands ) All hands ( All the hand George Jack George Hargrove a building be except ) George ( tween the Joist they have all quit but will come back about George ) & Jack ( Monday week to finish they have worked half the day to day have quit )

Sun 22 The morning is clear & little cooler I got better some during All about ) myself ( the night, I am bathing with Sugar of Lead and taken Magnecea Sick ) & Salts & have not eat butt little I suffer through the night My ) verry much the whole head is in one solid sore with biles & Self ( unwell ) ruptures I cannot lay my head down to sleep only in pain I am much worned out have continued fever I think I am better tho not much. My head has had a ring worm in it for some times it was verry troublesome Some 4 or 6 days ago I washed it with Cantarades it commenced braking out in sores & biles and seemed like to run me deranged I set for Doct Pillow yesterday he came & pronounced it a severe case of Eresiphelas & I am treating it as such.

Tu 24 The morning is clear dry & warm George Hargrove is coupling George H. on the ballence of the rafters My health this morning is quite weakly & my head is not much better but I think no Worse Bacon John went with William & got 77lbs of midling meet & a Canvass ham. $ George H. rafters The ballence of the rafters 4 in no. was finished coupling today by George Hargrove they are all ready Self Erecipolous is extreanly bad

Wed 25 The morning is a little cloudy & cool but it cleared off & turned verry warm. We have no hands hired except John John Jack John exchanged work with Jack Patton Jack alled brick & sand R. Right & John picked cotton Reuben Rich was committed today before a magistrate for horse stealing McCinly is suspicioned to have been with him as accessaror

Fr 27 The morning is clear & calm. I spent a verry hard night this Self disease seems like it will kill me or run me deranded I git no rest all night I am verry much down spirited & weake & in greate pain Jack ) John ) Jack Patton halled 2 loads of his Cotton to Matthews Jin John picked out Cotton for Jack today I receved in the way of a present a line fine riding whip present ) with a silver handle verry heavy imitating a horse's leg & Noah ( Whip ) foot William brot it

Sat 28 It was verry warm all night until near morning, it then turned quite cool, clear & calm, & as the day rose it turned quite warm the boys are all at work cleaning out the Sping and Cleaning ) out Spring) Spring house & ditch the Watter is become quite insufficient the ditch being stopt up by the hogs tho there are plenty of watter I cannot think I am any better I suffer with my head more than I could have thought I could have born & lived All night last night it was the same

Sept The morning at sun rise was quite cool but as the day rose it Sun 29 became excedingly warm & sultry I spread my hair full of flour
