Feby ( Fr 25 ) William did not git home last night he will be at Spring Wm ( Spring Hill ) Hill 22 Dist. today (Spring Hill) 22 Dist ( Town ) I went to Town rode in Thomas L. (Barush) with him & Fanna there was a good many people in Town I saw several person from where the candidates were speaking William is no better Some are of opinion that It is Genl Whithong (the older) that is candidate agt William This impression shold not be let stand that way. I hear that Whithong is saying things about Wm & the Porters that he aught not, & William is not answering him owing to his being too unwell Jo sick ) 1111111 7 ) If it don't rain I must go back to Town tomorrow Jo sick -------------------------------------------------- Sat 26 ) The morning is verry cloudy. My General health has been much like it was last week My Sore ankle ) cough & cold is some better I have a verry sore ankle occasioned from rubbing it when I had the cramp the other night it is verry much inflamed smarts and burns continually I put Jo sick 9 ) Mercurial ointment on it last night. ---------------------------------------------------- 1870 ) The morning is clear high Winds N. Wm We are trying to hall up wood with the Wagons This is the last day of Feby & quite cold Self ) Ankle ) My ankle has pained me all night verry much Verry considerable fever in it Hen & 12 ) chicks ) The blue hen that set in the passage braught of 12 chickens 3 white & 9 blacks they look remarkable peart ears harty looks well. Puss $5.00 ) Jo sick 10 ) Puss went to Town I give her $5.00 to get some cloathes with before she went Jo sick ever since the 19 (Sat) 9 days he Self says he will work tomorrow Sore ankle no better -----------------------------------------------------------

Wm ) William did not come home last night he meets at Williams Wms Port ) Port today there is excitement in the County candidates K Kluck ) Election the Ku Kluck's have met in a convention & nominated candates S. Wright ) Stephen Wright stayed last night. Self I went to Town I got the following articles 50 lbs of flour $2.50 Sugar $2.00 Cold Oil $.40 2 prs Hames $2.00 a bottle of poison berry & whiskey to kill the lice on horses $.09 pencil $.15 Total $7.90 Treating &c $8.00 Total - $15.90

I was all over Town tryed to see every Voter in Town I am afraid of the nomination of the K. K. ticket it is Hickey, Akin, Whithorn, Wood unless it is made to react I don't know what it will produce. ----------------------------- 1870 ) The morning is dark cloudy & raining Wind E. It has been March ( Sun 6 ) raining ever since before day verry hard My General health is some better My cold is better & some better every way the verry weak and but little use of myself My hands and feet is verry deficient at times I am better this morning I have more use of my hands & not so much of my feet Upon the whole I am better than the week before. It has rained all day until evening, the ground is verry wet & muddy Wind shifting to N. W. & turning cold. ----------------------------- Mon 7 ) The morning is dark & cloudy Wind W. Verry cold Wm ) William is at home & quite unwell Town ) I went to Town Verry cold My Bufy harness broke & pestered me verry much I found a greate many people there I saw & talk to several hundreds of them If WIlliam is beaten it will K. K. be the K. K. ticket that will do it, & if it does I may not ( dye before I may see that ample satisfaction take place ) I ( Tax $4.50 ) paid my Tax for the Rock Spring Dist 24th for last year 1869 $4.50 to J. W. Williams Tax Collector & Deputy Shff on my Puss $1.00 ) Cedar land. I got Puss $1.00 Sugar I paid James the SilverWatch $4.00 ) smith $4.00 for working on William's watch -----------------------------

The weather moderated some Wm some ( better ) William is some better but not able to get out The meeting Meeting at ( Buck Snort ) is at Buck Snort today Jo Garden ) We fixed up a Cary plow Jo is breaking up the gardin it plows verry well got half done (indeed) Henry ) Henry Legget takes the Bay mare & his horse to work & he is to feed her & mak a crop & he will not have to pay for her feed he commenced plowing (in his crop) today working on the hill ------------------------------------ Fri 11 ) The morning is dark & cloudy Sprinkling rain S. W. William is some better but not able to be out yet David ) David Blackman is putting the Frizers that old Daniel made Blackman ) me on a double tree & 2 single trees It commenced raining this morning & has rained all day sometimes hard got but little done rained nearly all day ------------------------------------- 1870 ) The morning is dark cloudy Wind S. W. It has rained nearly March ( Sat 12 ) all night and still raining Rain ( Jesse Harris came last night Sent for Thomas We had pleasant Town ) game of Whist until about 10 oclock I went to Town after dinner William left Town before I got there I done all I thaught right Spent several dollars in the Groceries. I stood Matts security to the Police for two fines & costs about $5.50 each making about $11.00 One was for knocking Jo Crofford down for abusing me Wm ) William is Gone to Campbells Station the other side of Calicka

I think he has gone somewhere else I don't know where. I told him to Whithorn ) quit telling it about that I was going to make speeches & answer him I deny it & told him he made it

Sun 13 ) the morning is verry cold N. W. William did not come home last night he has gone South My General health is like it has been I am quite weak & feeble I am compelled to take every day some thind to moove my bowels I have taken Brandith pills every day for months some times 2 a day & never less than one I have lived upon a verry light diet for a long time & taken Bull Sasaperilly, & I opine the sores & braken out on my head & neck has mostly disapeared Shaved I shaved & put on a clean shirt. Sow & pigs) We got up one of old Peggy's young gilts with 5 pigs put her

is cleaning up the ground they all except Aleck & Jack eat there dinners We are putting these Oats in the old Clover in the lot North of the Orchard but in the same inclosur. We got not quite half done at night. Our red cow had a verry large find calf I think she will die Rich has taken Dutch to work two horses in his crop ------------------------------- Tu 15 ) The morning is dark & cloudy & rainy. W. It has been raining Rain through the night and is turning quite cold this morning Snow Snowed & Rained bad weather Wm William did not come home last night We don't know his whereabouts he went South last Saturday not heard of since It has turned verry cols & a fresing & snowing a little. The Snow Wind from the North & is verry high Wind & remarkable cold Cold I hear Thomas is unwell & Leroy also unwell they both have taken cold this is a verry greate change in the weather It 3 feet Snow) affects me verry much (The 3 feet Snow fell 15 March 1843) 1843 ) ---------------------------------- Wed 16 ) The morning is verry cold bucket of watter froze 2 Inch thick Cold in the house N. The Wind is verry high from the North & cold Wm not st ) home ) indeed. William is not come home last night I don't know papers ) his whereabouts I fear for him he is in bad health. Hamon Thos ) braught my papers the first I have got for a week My son Thomas spent a half hour with me, he is complaining of his back (bad cold &c) ---------------------------------- 1870 ) The morning is clear & cold Wind N. -392( Wm ) froze bad cold weather on man & beast ) William has not been heard of since he left last Saturday for Campbells Station, South. I fear he is sick some where & can't git home We still hope for the better. Cold ) Ice ( The Watter is freesing in the house at 12 oclock Snow 4 Snow ) feet deep on Masonry ----------------------------- Fri 18 ) The morning is clear cool Wind not so high N. Wm William has not got home yet he went last Saturday, South, & has not been heard of since Said to be still hunting. The ( Oats ) weather has moderated some ) I have had Andy after dinner Weather ( ( Aleck [unk symbol?] ) plowed stud & John Mule. Calvin (Henry) plowed after dinner Henry [unk symbol?] ( Richd [unk symbol?] ) his horse & the one eyed mare. Rich plowed Dutch & Kit all day & Jo plowed Bill & the black horse. We finished sowing & plowing in the Oats at sun down the old clover lott near & north of the Orchard There is by calculation about 4 acres in the piece Plow ) I have finished off stocking a Barsheer plow of my own & let Henry Henry ( Plow ) have it to work with Rich has the Koon & Turpin plow Jack Richd ( Koon plow ) & Aleck has a good Cary plow with a cast Molebord all of Aleck a ( Cary plow ) these plows I have finely done up & layed by Tom Peelar (Col) They are all plows of the first order & runs & plows finely none better. I am by my self entirely tonight. William J & [Hamon?] has neither come home I have taken more exercise today than usual

myself no one here to help me eat this they are not many
