Mon 22 / George H. / Jack / Rich'd / salted our pork down / See 12 Novr See 20 Novr )

The morning is clear Wind is S. E. & cold. George H. Jack & Richd has cut out & salted up our Pork that was killed Saturday got it done at one oclock It is clouding up looks like it might Snow or Rain Verry cold, S. & E. Wind verry disagreeable weather. We have had a verry good time on our Pork put it down in Salt verry well & verry cool, it will be apt to save We ground a beautiful chance of Sausage Meet this evening

Tu 23 / Sake at Matthews ) This morning is verry cloudy & warm having rained last night high Winds S. This morning wind from N. Doct Gillispie, E. Bennet & - Pinnion spent the night with us last night (turning cold) Sale of Mr. Matthews personal property today Verry cold in the evening Wind at night

Wed 24 ) The morning is cloudy damp & cold Wind N. Preston & George H. is trying to hall up the corn crop We made our hogs feet &c into cold Souse

1869 November Th 25 ) The morning is clear calm & cold N. E. I stayed at home trying to make out our settlements with the Croppers all day

Fr 26 / Shaved ) The morning is a little cloudy & cold I stayed home all day making out my accounts I shaved & put on clean shirt

Sat 27 ) The morning is a little cloudy Mostly calm Wind from the South I went to Town for the 1st. time in some time

Sun 28 / N. Porter / B. W. P. & T. L. P. ) The morning is cloudy Wind E. & quite cold. My health is abot like it has been past week, like it has been. Myself, William & Thomas signed a Note Blank for Thomas to take and try to get money on if he can.

Tu 30 / Caleb / Cotton ) The morning is cloudy & like it would rain Richard went to Jones and got Caleb's bale of Cotton took it to Town & William sold it at 20.60 the bale come to $108 dollars paid off an Execution agt me of $100.15 cents in favour of Jne Soribner

My general health is quite feeble this damp cold weather is verry hard on me. I took an injection yesterday Warm watter My new surrenge done verry well it is the first time I used it since I got it in Nashville I eat a little verry salt Pork the other day which has produced Costiveness My Genral helf for the last week has not been so good as the week before. I shaved today and also shaved Friday 26th. Nov'r Ten days including both days took an injection again today Still costive & has taken the usual number of pill, 1 every day

Tu 7 ) the morning is clear & cold N. E. I stayed at home all day

1869 November Wed 8 ) The morning is verry dark and smokey and verry cold calm The blue Ink I got don't do well This I am writing with is a mixture and I have put some comperass in it this morning

Th 9 / T. Smith ) the morning has cleared off Wind in the south & verry cold Old Tom Smith came yesterday at 11 oclock stayed all day & all night he had been in a spree drinking ever since last Monday looks bad and dirty.

Fr 10 / George H. Corn Settled ) The morning is dark & cloudy high Winds from the East and Cold My Gould Watch has not been a doing so well the last day or two inclines to stop I can't see what is the matter George Hargroves has finished halling up his Corn & we divided it after getting my part & pay for the feed I got 40 bbs 1 1/2 bush & he got 28 1/2 bbs & 1 1/2 bushels There is about 12 acres in the field That is making 5 bbs 3 bushels pr acre

1869 December Sat 11 Wm ) The morning is cloudy high wind S. Cold William did not come home last night I stayed intirely by myself Only the blacks around me. William went to a gathering near Spring Hill yesterday I rested verry well all night got up verry early.

Sun 12 / Thos. & Fanna & Children ) The morning is mostly clear Wind S. W. Fanna & Thomas & little Wills & Leyroy came & went back before dinner. Matta W. Jany & Della came & stayed until after dinner We had a verry sumptuous dinner of a Rabbit that was well cooked & good. We enjoyed it verry well.

Mon 13 / Sope ) The morning is clear calm Wind West N. W. It has turned quite cold this morning. I did not rest well last night We are trying to make Sope got every thing going on at it

Sat 18 / 18 / Medicine Self / Election Convention / There is 2 Saturdays written down look back / Charley $6.00 Puss $1.00 Sugar Felix coat $3.50 ) The morning is a little cloudy & Wind N. W. It snowed until late at night it is about 3 or 4 Inches deep bad time on man & beast William got a medicine German Bitter Watter, It cures the Dispepsey Piles &c tak a wine glass every morning before breakfast This is the day of Election for against a convention & to vote for members of the convention I went to Town and voted for members of the convention to change the constitution, also I voted for "convention" I voted for Nicholson & Thompson for members to the convention V. Tompson will be elected no dout I got Charley a verry good overcoat cost ($6.00) six dollars & Felix a coast cost $3.50 Puss a $1.00 sugar Myself a 1/2 bushel Irish potatoes 40 cts The Snow is melting some Verry cold wind I got home before sun down

1869 December Sun 19 ) The morning is clear Wind S. W. but verry cold The snow melted a little yesterday the cold Wind in the mng & verry chilly My General health some better the piles are no better The medicine I am taking of a morng has not produced any alteration yet. I am taking sulpher & Magnecia of a night it seems to moove my bowels a little.

Mon 20 / Snow / Medicine / Pills / Meal / Rain / Tax ) The morning is cloudy calm S. W. It looks like falling weather the Snow is melting I rested a little better last night than usual. I was bad off several nights back, but better, my nerves is more steady & I did not have to go to the door through the night I have been taking the medicine every morning and the floers of Sulpher and Magnecia every night I have quit the Brant pills since last Saturday. I took the last one Friday morning Charley went to Mill took a full bag at Willbanks It commenced raining at 3 oclock & rained ballence of the day William paid my Tax in Dist. No. 50. $80. for this year

Tu 21 / Rain Rain Rain ) The morning is dark cloudy and a raining rained all night last night and nearly all day Could not get out to do any thing Verry considerable rain Watters are up

1869 December Wed 22 ) The morning is dark & cloudy The Wind has been all night high from the South & S.W. and turned warm & Rained This morng W. & turned quit cool this morning.

Th 23 / Execution $47.00 ) The morning is mostly clear Wind N. I sent by William & he paid of an Execution of Wm Kernel Holden [?] for $47.00 L. F. Lane const. See recpt filed.

Fr 24 / Charley $5.00 ) The morning is clear & cold Wind N. I give Charley five dollars towards pay for his work The blacks was up & around nearly all night it was Chrismas eve & they was quit merry Charley left to go to his Mothers at 12

Sat 25 / Rain / Christmus day ) the morning is cloudy & Raining N. W. It rained nearly all night Slowly, and cold. Yelling & hollowing & fire crackers has been the order of last night & today amongst the blacks I stayed at home fitted & put a handle in the Axe No one here but some blacks children & me drisled & rained most of the day

Sun 26 / Charley Act. & work / See 18 July ) The morning is dark & cloudy N. W. My General health is about like it has been The Medicine I am taking is keping my bowels in some better fix (Bitter Watter) I have posted Charleys act. & work since he has been at work he commenced the 18 July and quit the 24 Dec'r having worked 5 months at $5.00 per month making $25.00 his Act. of moneys & cloathing See Act. drawed off [table]

Tu 28 / Prestons hogs See Act. ) The morning is cloudy a little at N. W. I bot Preston's hogs 10 of them $30.00 paid him $10.00 cash and credited his Act. with $20. more

Wed 29 / Preston Corn / Preston / George H. Corn / Rich'd $21.00 Corn / Jim Corn / Caleb Corn / Corn Total ) The morning is mostly clear (N. W.) I got also 2 loads of corn of Preston at 84. pr barrel 6 bbs makin $24.00 to be credited on his Act with me.

I got in all The feed 4 loads got otherwise (divide) 10 loads [table]

Got of George Hargrove 13 1/2 loads this includes the feed corn and all The Wagon bed hold 3 bbs Got of Richard 6 loads & Rich'd owes 2 loads that is 6 bbs at $21.00 [table]

Jim's Corn I got 6 loads of corn [table]

Caleb Corn I only Got 4 loads of corn lacks one load of enough to pay the feed of the mules Put it all in old Smoke house [table]

One hundred & Twenty four bbs from 1st to last put in the Crib

1869 December Th 30 /. Adaline Porter Settlement Archer Do See Act. Book page 62. 63 / Dream ) The morning is clear calm Wind N. W. Ground frose Not verry cold I had a calculation of Adaline Acts, of everything between us She has fallen in my debt $32.78 Cents. See Act. Book page 62 & 63. This includes a settlement also with Archer (Monk) and me up to this time, all settled. Adaline has left her home and gone moved to Mr. Dixon to live Went yesterday

I had a dream last night that has crossed my mind several times today, I keep thinking about it. Some news or information by letter and otherwis that may be verry interesting
