Friday Jan 3

Before lunch today Gladys & John returned to their own house.

H. had enjoyed skating & snowshoeing at Point though there was no skating until 29th, weather having been too mild. Later they all crossed the bay one day to Roach's Pt. & back.

John did the cooking. Seems to have fared very well.

Harold had a good night.

Beautiful day, rather colder than usual. Walked with B.E.W. & then drove out Davenport Rd. & back in time for dinner.

Dorothy Beaulands in this aft. Also Misses Corbett & Hogg. In the evening M.J.L. & Isa, the first time I had seen them since I began my "rest-cure" at the end of May.

Dorothy much better. Harold getting on very well. Eth. & Carl to see the Lairds this aft. Gladys & John came in to supper. Ewart also in the evening. Mr. Muse brought Alastair for a little while in the morning & Mr. Jim Colley came to see Harold.

Tuesday Jan 7

Mild. Fine dry walking. Not out today, everybody busy. Ethelwyn developing Grippe rapidly. Dorothy up in the afternoon & at dinner. Harold amusing himself in bed with [unclear]. A long & busy day at Univ. for Edmund. Alfred to dance this evening at the Kingsfords'. Gladys & John in to tea, sent them home in carriage. Letter from Bella, - enjoying Yonkers.

Ewart in to lunch as usual, with short rest afterwards.

Have been been looking over & enjoying once more Stevenson's "Travels with a Donkey".

Five in bed today have kept Miss Allen busy. Eth. in addition to D. & H., and upstairs the parlour-maid, in addition to Lizzie.
