Entries include observations on nightshade (Solanum dulcamara), wild angelica (Angelica sylvestris), water plantain (Alisma), watercress (Nasturtium officinale), and St. John's Wort (Hypericum perforatum).

Leaves — oblong narrow 1/2 inch long stand alternate, The flowers stand on short pedicles along ye top in an open spike — of a bright yellow.

Wretched bad in pastures — found in pastures & beyond new Mills — spreads over ground thick matt — etc etc

Calyx — perianth of one leaf, permanent divided into 5 deep segts long & acute & erect —

Corol — rotate, divided into 5 inversely ovate segments or rather petals — — patent — of a bright scarlet colour.

Stam — 5 filiform, patent, hairy filaments inserted into ye tube of ye Corol — & shorter

Calyx — very small, perminant Perianth with 5 very small acute segments.

Corol — one leaf petal, Campanulale, with 5 segts — blunt — patent —

Pistil — Germen beneath — Style — none St but a turbinated glandule — Stigmata 3 — obtuse

Shrub — This shrub grows 6 or 8 feet high — Bark light Brown — The Leaves a roundish oblong, 2 inch long 1/2 wide — acutely crenated. The leaves stand on ye young shoots in pairs, but is not properly pinnated. Marked with very large Veins
