Nancy (Brig) of Rochester, Nathan Briggs, master, Seth Barlow, second mate, keeper, on voyage from New York to Gothenburg March 26, 1810- May 28, 1810. Journal volume confiscated by the Danes for seven months while Barlow and his shipmates were taken onboard the Danish privateer North Star and later confined at Trondheim. (See NBW 1270, May 29, 1810-September 13, 1810). Journal recommences back onboard the Nancy, January 20, 1811- May 20, 1811 bound for Newry, Ireland.

Remarkes on Monday April 9 th This day at 3 PM Saw a Sail to the Leeward, Bore Down to Speak her found her under Jury masts, the Schooner Little Dick of Portsmouth from St Bartholowmues, rolled her foremast away 10 Since Lowered Down our Jolly and the Capt went on Board, Supplyed her with warter twine and Cordage, In return for which Capt Dennis gave us Some Molasses and Suga took up the Jolly Boat, handed top G sail and Sent down the yards, Single reefed both TopSails and handed the Jib, Strong Gales and Cloudy with Some rane Close reeft both TopSails, Single reefed the TrySail at Midnite heavy Gales and hard rane Litening all round Dark as Egypt handed both TopSails and foretop Stay Sail, took another reef in theTryS Shook out one reef of the Try Sail, and Set a Stay Sail Squared the Yards Set Both topSails Close reefed, handed the Stay Sail, at noon Let out another in each topsail, So end the Day.
