Nancy (Brig) of Rochester, Nathan Briggs, master, Seth Barlow, second mate, keeper, on voyage from New York to Gothenburg March 26, 1810- May 28, 1810. Journal volume confiscated by the Danes for seven months while Barlow and his shipmates were taken onboard the Danish privateer North Star and later confined at Trondheim. (See NBW 1270, May 29, 1810-September 13, 1810). Journal recommences back onboard the Nancy, January 20, 1811- May 20, 1811 bound for Newry, Ireland.

Remarks Thursday April 19th These 24 Strong Gales attended with rane a high Sea. Some of them had the audicity to Board us, Took another reef in the TrySail and handed the fore StaySail

Remarks Saturday April 21st

Soft, and cozy ends the Norther. With a Smoothe and gentle Sea. A more Deliteful, Pleasant Day We Seldom even See, Than the last 24 Hours have been let the reefs out of the Topsails Hauled out the Trysail by the Head and foot, took the Stream from off the half [leach?] and Stowed it in the long [drawing of whale boat] Good weather, Sent up the fore and main top yards and set the Sail, hauled down the Mainstaysail and set up the Stay Imployed at Several Jobs

So ends the day all Sail Set Variation ½ S. W.

Took in StudingSails, Braced Clost hall - - - - - - Saw many Different kind of Fowls Hove about and stood to the North Cloudy with litening all round, Handed the F.T.G. Sail took in the Jib and M.T.G. Sail. put a Single reef in the try Sail Brisk winds with Some rane,

let out the reef in the TrySail and Set the Jib Tryed for Soundings But found none Set the T.G. Sail, So ends the Day all Sail Set. Variation ½ P. W.
