Flour) about 2 1/2 bush it is not bolted We will sift it & use it withNot) bolted) out bolting. I learn that William went on from Columbia towards Mag) Lawrence County with Mag early this morning. William) I tryed to git all hands to work early but it was hard work to git them started. We had a Blackberry pie today Verry good.

Th 9 The morning is Clear & Calm William did not git home until Mag night last night having went with Mag beyond Mt. Pleasant he Wm ) rode the little black Mare & this morning she is verry stiff black( Mare stiff) cant walk but verry little, he rode one eye stud to Town today. Bisket We had for supper busket the flour not bolted it eat verry well

Wed 10 The morning is quite cool the wind is from the east & a verry Wm heavy Dew One eye) Wm Rode his Commadore Steed yesterday & this morning he is a Comadore) little stiff a touch of founder John is helping George plow Jno today The Black Mare is verry Stiff yet from Mondays ride bad Black) Mare) off

Th 11 The morning is a little cool calm & cloudy I went to Town & heard Etherage Candate for Governor make a Speech he is a powerful Orator mad the best Speach I ever heard he exposed Erownlow & the radicles without mercy There was but few Negroes there they had got there orders I suppose to stay away Elias Polk Col Made a speach, he Spoke well. Stud Wms Stud is bad off verry stiff had to drench him

-531867 July Fr 12 The morning is cloudy & looks like rain The boys was about commencing to cut my Oats & it commenced a little shower of rain & they did not cut it for present. William Stud one eye Stud is verry bad off We put him up in the the Stud lott yesterday. Dan Rice Mare } We put the bay Mare to the sorrel Colt 2 covers yesterday & today & turned her out in the large Grass lott } her Colt Sorrel Stud } is 9 day old on yesterday it is looking fine See intry See entry of Wed 3d July See 3 July entry } Arnall & red Oxen } Saml Arnell Sent back the red oxen I sold him last March The boy Paul turned him loose in the lott without saying one word to me about it, he told me that Arnell said he did not want him, after keeping the oxen for 4 or 5 months & plowing him the Summer. I ordered Paul to take him back & made him do it, so he done it. It has been raining off & on the most of the nite verry hard. Jack Porter } Sent Jack some meet & bread to Saw Mill

Sat 13 The morning is a little cool some cloudy & they mooving from the North. Mary & Thomas sent there Wagon & boy stayed here Mary Ann Thos L. Corn } last night Got about 9 or 10 bushels of Corn to carry with them to Summer Town. I rode Ball in the morning & noon to the pawn took my usual ride The black Mare is yet stiff. We got the weeds some of them cut out of the yard. All hands are gone to Town there is a barbacue at Mr Pleasants by the Conservatives One Eye One Eye is getting better.

-541867 July Sun 14 The morning is a little cloudy is blowing from the South William Wint to Zyon Church meeting today, his one eye Stud is nearly well the black Mare is Mending tho bad off yet. Wm One Eye black Ball William rode Ball to Meting which deprived me of my usual ride today. There is greate excitement amongs the plitical Asprens, & the peaple there has been some bloddy Work at Franklin lately Some few killed & many wounded The Malitia or League had to give back

Mon 15 The morning is dark & cloudy the Wind is from the S. & E looks like it would rain Shortly It has been cloudy & like for Rain for nearly a week it has prevented us from cutting our Oats last week. Vegatabls &c } We have been using cucumbers for over a week We have plenty of vegetables beans cabbages peas potatoes &c Mag Mag has not got home yet She went to Lorrance last Monday the 8th inst Oats Richd, George, Press, Jack, Caleb & John commenced cutting & shocking up my Oats worked to 10 1/2 oclock it commenced Rain & all quit. Rain I set Lorra to carrying watter in the field to where they were cutting Oats She quit & went off with the rest of the children to gathering black berries When they braught them I throwed them out to the hogs. rain Cut our Oats } They had concluded all hands to have a fine dinner but I broke it up. At 2 oclock we had a verry heavy rain for a half hour Cleared off in the evening & we finished cutting shocking up our Oats. We had a

-55- verry poore turnout, the rust had injured them verry much in places

1867 July Tu 16 I looked all over the farm today } The morning is verry cloudy & calm look like rain I have this morning been all over the plantation & in every field the boys are making a tolerable Crop take all into consideration some better than others. We have a Good Season We Will Make a tolerable fair Crop of Corn We have but little Cotton Some Oats &c Jno is helping Richd (plowing) today Watch Some way I broke the Winding chane of my watch on yesterday I miss it verry much William will taken it to git it fixed Wm lost $50. } William has lost some money out of his coat pocket he thinks Some one has taken it he thinks it was about $50.00

Wed 17 The morning is clear calm & quite cool It is clouding up at breakfast time Watch broke } I sent my Watch to Town today to git it fixed by William The Main Spring of my watch seems to be proken Jack Richd & Preston all is at work Cutting there Oats. Ball The black Mare is mending I am riding Ball until they boys gits done there Oats

Th 18 The morning is clear Wind is from the East & a verry heavy diew Oats Preston & Jack finished the cutting there Oats & so did Richard finished his also today Richards is fine the rest only tolerable Oats

-56Worms in Cabbages } The Worms has like to eat up our Cabbage before I was aware of it Mag has not come back from Lawrence yet William braught my Watch from Mr Hodge he put a Main Spring in it. Watch $3.00 } Charge $3.00. Mag got home today at 2 oclock I took my morning & evening ride today rode ball. I must not omit it for I know ride it helps me more than every thing I can do When I omit it I am the worse of it.

1867 July Fri 19 The morning is clear & calm & quite warm I rode all over the plantation Wash has quit his work in is field & gone to hall Wood I sent Word to him by Monk to git in his field & clean it out or I would do it for him Tom McCanless will be in it on Monday to work if he dont go at it right off. Jno John is helping Jack today. Thunder & Rain } It began to cloud up late in the evening thundered and lightened & commenced rain at dark & give us a verry pretty season from N.E. rained verry hard a little while. Warm Extremely warm & Sultry all day.

Sat 20 The morning is a little cloudy the wind is from the N.E. tho verry warm & sultry Som are a stir whis is verry exceptable indeed. Meal We sent a turn of Corn to Mill 2 1/2 bushels to the Steam Mill White Corn the last we got was the 6th of July making 13 days this today was white Corn Jack Oats } Jack took a load of Oats to Town to sell to get him something to eat he took 325 bundles & sold it at 1.30 cents pr 100 bundles
