[Left: Sun 5] The Wind is still blowing from the S. E. & not quite so high [Left: Wm Ball] as yesterday Some little clouds passing William rode the ball horse went to Jo Moores in Fountain Creek got back at night. I was all day alone all the blacks went off [Left: Self] to meeting &c I was not well and verry lonesome & a little hipoed I suppose. My attention was called by George Hargroes to the [Left: Ball horse] fact that the ball horses eyes would get well after the change of the moon The Moon changed the 4th Inst & today it is [Left: Moon] better I see on the 6th his eyes looks quite well, I must [Left: Eyed] notice hereafter -------------------- [Left: 1867 May Mon 6th Rain] The Morning is dark cloudy & thundering & calm It has been raining nearly all night slowly & looks like raining more. William was a little pestered this morning to get a horse to ride to Town he at last rode Mags little poney Mare he got up the sorrel Stud Colt & got on him thought he would be too [Left: Mag] unmanagable & left him & got on the other the poney. Mag has not got back from Lawrence yet. John worked in garden. The Circuit Cort Commenced its Session today Judge Ward presiding --------------------- [Left: Tu 7th Wm Court] The morning is clear & quite cool the Wind in N. Rone Colt Sent John & told them to leave John done it & they [Left: Nutgrass's son Shooting in the lott] left right off It was Nutgrass's son a youth John knew him when he told him go. Verry calm & quite cold Wind North The frost will cut down the vegetable verry much. I settled my Act [Left: J H Bostick] by note with Jas H. Bostick $11.50 he stocked 3 plows one for [Left: plows Preston Bostick] me costs $3.50, & one other for Wm costs $4.00, and one for Preston costs $400. Bostick stayed with me & eat his dinner quite friendly ---------------------- [Left: Th 9 Rain] The morning is quite blustery Wind mostly from N. Rain & clouds from the North Clear in the West and thundering in the South, there was but little rain verry curious weather. [Left: Arnold] Arnold after his old original name he aught to keep & ware from his anstry Benodeck Aarnold. Saml Arnolds father was a son of the brother of Benodick Arnold the trator in the Revolutionary War, This is what Col. Elias C. Freerson says about it, he aught to know. -------------------- [Left: Sat 11 Caleb Court Sugar] The morning is very calm a little cloudy. Caleb got Duck Mule today to plow & 100 ears of Corn to feed with. The Circuit Court is in Session. Caleb will have turn out portion of his field cant get plow stock to attend it. We got $2.00 Worth of Sugar -------------------- [Left: Sun 12 Rain] The morning is a little cloudy Mostly calm It rained last night a tolerable good shour We needed it The Varmints caught 6 out [Left: Varmints Caught Chickens] of 12 of the young chickens out of the porch last night. Mag went to Town and stayed at Jacks last night & this morning [Left: Mag Lawrence] went in the Bugga to Lawrence & took her Mother with her back home. -------------------- [Left: Mon 13] This morning is quite warm & clear The air is mooving gently from the E. & S. E. William rode the sorrel Colt this morning [Left: Caleb Black Mare] to Town I sent the black Mare to Caleb to plow they did not get along so well togather & he sent her back. [Left: Trap] I have finished & made a box or trap to catch possoms, Coons, rabbits &c. I think it will hold them if they do into it. [Left: Etheridge Candidate for Govr] Ethredge Candidate for Govr has commenced the campain Candidate for Govr. Verry greate excitement. John Freerson was here with [Left: Freerson] a Mare to 1 eye horse

[Left: 1867 May Tu 14] The morning is Clear The Wind is in the West. The boys are working replanting, plowing &c All done planting except [Left: Work &c] Caleb he is about half done he has 2 mules now & is getting along some better but could not make the black Mare work yesterday [Left: Self Town] I was some more unwell having the cramp several times last night took too much exercise last eveng I feel some better today I have not been in Town for a long time. We sent 2½ bushels [Left: Meal] of Corn to the Steam Mill at the pawn today it makes verry pretty Meal. This is the first I have got at that Mill. The last bag of Meal we got was the 3d May it has lasted about the [Left: Mag] usual number of days (12) Mag has not got home yet. -------------------- [Left: Wed 15] The morning is clear The Wind is from the N. W. & a little cool, remarkable dry, the Wind has dryed the ground verry much want rain [Left: George & Preston] George & Preston are stocking their bull tongue plows There [Left: Richd] crop is looking verry well Richd is runing round his Corn [Left: Jack] Jack is replanting his Corn. Caleb is yet planting, & I dont [Left: Caleb & Wash] know anything about Wash he dont never tell me. Mag got home today about 3 in the evening with George Stanfod with her who [Left: Mag] waked on to Town. She left Jacks Sunday stayed that night (her & her Mother) at Langley Went on to Lawrence next day She gives a history of her travel there & back her sick Mare & broken down Bugga & the mending of it &c &c &c

I sent $5.00 by William who paid Plummer Henderson the hire [Left: John $5.00 paid for hire] of John his son for the past month whose time was out yesterday, he has not yet returned We had lettices for supper [Left: Lettice] they were sowed & planted on Wed 15 April Not 4 weeks -------------------- [Left: 1867 May Th 16] The Morning is calm cloudy & dusting rain We need some verry much indeed [Left: Jno] John Henderson (Col) Came by Going to work at James Davis's so I dont get him any more [Left: Rain] It has rained a little several times through the day Not enough to do much good Puss went to Town John's Father told her he would send John by next Monday I dont expect it -------------------- [Left: Fr 17 Self] The morning is calm having sprinkled rain several times through the night I feel better this morning I am mending I think a little. [Left: Potatoes] George Richard & Jack plowed over our Irish potatoe patch It took them three hours plowed them verry well with a turning plow & finished before dinner We planted these potatoes on the 9th day of April & they have not been worked since only a bord run over the ridges before they had come up & that, John dont it We put out our Tomatos that was in the box & wattered them -------------------- [Left: Sat 18 Moon] THe morning is quite cook but no frost The wind is from the N.
