Worked on our cars and around camp. Went swimming at Braine in the Vesle River. Ben took us down in his car.

Got up at 4 A.M. Went to Ville-Savoye and got a load of ammunition. Had trouble with my car. Bert & Ben got stalled & didn't make the trip. Halled the ammunition through Fismes, Meivalle, Oeilly, and unloaded in some trees by some batteries of small and large guns at Cuissy Fer'me. Had lunch. After lunch

Inspection in the morning. Grand ballout. No 9. on the sick list. Went out with "High" Howard on convoi at 2 p.m. Loaded at Bazoches, passed Fismes, Mirval, Oeuilly, and unloaded at Chateau Soupir. Waited in behind a hill outside of Oeuilly untill dark. Went on hill and watched the French firing. Germans droped ten shells on our road just outside Oeuilly near the bridge. Resumed the convoy at dark. While passing over the bridge on farther side of Oeuilly two German shells

Saturday July 21 '17
Dick, Paul Penland & I left early for the aviation field. Had dinner in Mt. Notre Dame. A wond(erful?) meal cooked by an old lady. We had to go out and buy the food. Left at 1 P.M. for Fismes. Stoped in Fismes a short time & went to the field, about two miles out of town. Left there a little after six. Went through a hospital and found a comrad, an ambulance driver of section 66. Started to leave the hosbital and the rain drove us back. Waited for the rain to be over. Had another big feed in Fismes. Again had

Wednesday July 25, '17.
Stayed in camp all day. Took the 10 to 2 watches. Wrote letters while on watch. Heavy firing along the front.
Thursday July 26, '17.
Went to the aviation field with Holmes. Walked all of both ways. (12 mi) Only had one meal during the whole day. Got some bread and jam on our return at 11:30 P.M.
Friday July 27, '17.
Got up late. Went to Fismes with Dick in Herb's Ford. German aeroplanes came over while there. Went through the church that the Boche bombed the Sunday night before. "Some wreck."

The guard called Herb and I at 4 A.M. to go to Reims. Herb was sick so Pinkey got up instead. We left camp at 5:15 and caught a convoi of the Prinston bunch to Bazoch. Got a ride from Bazoch to Fismes. Walked through Fismes. Got two more lifts which took us within nine kms. of Reims. Walked the rest of the way. Reached the centinal outside of Reims at 8:10 (Record time). The centinal stoped us but we showed our passports and told him that they were all right. Such an official document stumped him, so he threw up his hand and let us pass. Seeing that he couldn't
