89 COMMON COUNCIL OF CITY OF SEATTLE Oct 1 1886 Be it remembered that on this 1st day of October 1886 the Common Council oof the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law. the following officers are present to wit: Mayor W H Shoudy and Councilmen C W Coulter, J M Frink, J Furth, Jos Green T D Hinckley, T W Lake, C F Reitze and Robt Russell the following proceedings were had to wit: The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Petitions etc Read Petition of James McNaught protesting against the summary removal of Water Tank from Jefferson St between 7th & 8th Sts and offering to make such changes in the tanks as will abate the nuisance at petitioners expense. Granted and the Street Commissioner ordered to make such changes in the premises as may be required to abate the nuisance. Petition of Paul Paulson et al praying for Street Crossings on Main St at intersection of 9th Street & 11th Street Granted. Petition of W K Hughes et al for Street Lights along Front Street from Pine Street to Vine Street Referred to Committee on Street Lights. Petition of John Cunningham et al for Street Lights corner of 7th & University St & Seventh St & Seneca St Referred to committee on Street Lights. Petition of Thos T Minor et al for Street Lights on Columbia Street from Fourth to Twelfth St Referred to committee on Street Lights. Petition of J B Metcalf et al for Street Lights corner of Main St & South 4th, South 6th, South 7th, South 8th and South 9th Streets. Granted.

95 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Oct 1 1886 Miscellaneous On motion of Councilman Lake it is ordered that the Council proceed on a body to examine that portion of Main Street which the Columbia & Puget Sound R R Co wish vacated, tomorrow (Saturday) at 2 o'clock PM. Councilman Reitze moves that a sidewalk be ordered built onSeventh Street between Madison Street and Union St. There being no second to the motion it is lost. The Chief of Police reports verbally that he has suspended officer Wm Morris for conduct unbecoming an officer. On motion of Councilman Furth the matter is referred to the Committee on Health & Police said committee to report at an adjourned meeting of the Council to be held Tuesday October 5th next at 7 o'clock PM Ordinances An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance authorizing the transfer of $190.00 from the City Fund to the Cemetary Fund of the City of Seattle" which after due consideration is passed by the following vote: In favor of the same C W Coulter, J Furth, J M Frink, Jos Green, T D Hinckley, T W Lake, R Russell & C F Reitze against none. An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance relating to the bidding in ans purchase of real property in sales on execution of foreclosure in action wherein the City of Seattle is a party " which after due consideration is passed by the following vote: In favor of the same C W Coulter, J Furth, J M Frink, Jos Green, T D Hinckley, T W Lake, R Russell & C F Reitze against the same none.

96 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Oct 1 1886 An Ordinance is submitted by the Clerk entitled "A Special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited Bills" which is passed by the following vote: In favor of the same C W Coulter, J Furth, J M Frink, Jos Green, T D Hinckley, T W Lake, C F Reitze and R Russell against none.
