133 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jan 7 1887 Be it remembered that on this 7th day of January 1887 the CommonCouncil of theCity of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law; the following Officers are present to wit: Mayor W H Shoudy and Councilmen J Furth, Jos Green, T D Hinckley, T W Lake, C F Reitze and R Russell The following proceedings were had to wit: The minutes of the previous meetings were read & approved Petition etc Petition of Frank A Pontius et al asking that the Council reconsider their action in regard to the Seventh Street sidewalk as the petitioners contemplate asking the Counil to grade siad Seventh Street & build sidewalks. On motion the petition is granted. Petition of Walter Harmon et al to raise the side walk on the East side of Third Street between University and Union Streets to a level with the grade Referrred to Street Committee Petition of W B Benjamin et al for Street Crossing on Madison Street opposite the residences of F Kindling & W B Benjamin Referred to Street Committee. Petitionof James McNaught et al for a Street crossing on Pike Street West Side of Fourth Street Referred to Street Committee. Petition of L B Andrews for a sidewalk on Madison St from Third Street easterly a distance of 136 feet to a connection with the sidewalk already built and in use from that point. Referred to Street Committee

Ordered that the Council do now adjourn W H Shoudy mayor Attest W R Forrest clerk Jan 21 1887 Be it remembered that on this 21st day of Jany 1887 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to law. The following Officers are present to wit: J Furth, J M Frink, Jos Green, T D Hinckley, R Russell & C F Reitze. The following proceedings are had to wit: The miuntes of the last meeting are read and approved. Petition Rec'd From Charles Hopkins et al for sidewalk on West side of Front Street from Cracker Factory to North side of Union Street. Granted & Sidewalk ordered constructed. From Gordon Hardware Co for permission to carry stock of 100 pounds of powder in their store on Front Street and same quantity in their warehouse on [Gliman's Wharf]] granted. From Hardy & Hall for permission to store one hundred pounds of powder in their store on Front Street Granted on condition that petitioners keep a sign conspicuously displayed to the effect that they are licensed to carry powder. 141 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITYOF SEATTLE Jan 21 1887 to street committee from Ames & Russell for permissionto lunload logs o Union Street. Granted From Sundstrom & Littell for a lease of or permission to use the foot of University Street for a Steam Jobbing shop. Referred to Street Committee, to be reported on at the adjourned meeting Committee Reports Rec'd From Street Light Committee stating that they are unable without a test with the proper instruments to satifactorily determine as to whether the contract of the Seattle Electric Light Company with the City being faithfully fulfilled or not. That if requested to do so the Electric Light Co willl increase the lights on Front and Second Streets to 32 candle power lamps. On motion the report is adopted and the Electric Light Company requests to make the change suggested. From Committee License & Revenue on petition of Frank Wilton for the return of certain license money rejected the same. Adopted. Application for License Referred Thomas Anderson & Conrad Brehm Licenses ordered Issued F S Curtis & L L Jewett.
