168 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Apr 1 1887 Be it remembered that on this 1st day of April A D 1887 the Common Council of the City of Seattle met in its Council Chamber pursuant to law. The following Officers are present to wit: Mayor W H Shoudy & Councilmen C W Coulter J Furth, J M Frink, Jos Green, T D Hinckley, T W Lake, R Russell & C F Reitze. The following proceedings were had to wit: The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Petitions & Communications petition of M Phelan et al for the opening of Summit, Silver, Wall & Bancroft Streets. Referred to Street Com. Petitionof A Chilberg et al for extending Front Street through to South Second Street. Laid on the table. Petition of John Connors for refunding liquor license fee for unexpired term. Granted Petition of Armstrong & Allen for permission to raise the sidewalk around the New Arlington Hotel and open the alley through block from Main to Jackson Street between South Second Street & South Third Street. Granted Petition of August Melhorn for permission to move buildings from the SW corner of Columbia and Front Streets to the lot west of the Alley west of Front Street on Columbia Street. Granted. Petition of M V Stewart for the refunding of $5.15 taxes for improvements. referred to Judiciary Committee Petition of R Levy for permission to make ceertain

175 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Apr 1 1887 Commissioner directed to attend to putting a box drain in said alley Ordinances An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance to extend and establish Madison Street in the City of Seattle" which is passed by the following vote viz: in favor of the same Coulter, Furth, Frink, Green, Hinckley, Lake, Russell & Reitze. Against none. An Ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An Ordinance relating to sewers and regulating the Drainage of the City of Seattle" which is passed by thefollowing vote viz: In favor of the same Coulter, Furth,Frink, Green, Hinckley, Lake, Russell & Reitze. Against none. An Ordinance is submitted by the City Clerk entitled "A Special Ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" which is passed by the following vote viz: In favor of the same Coulter, Furth, Frink, Green, Hinckley, Lake, Russell & Reitze. Against none. Ordered that the Council do now adjourn W H Shoudy mayor Attest W R Forrest clerk Apr 15 1887 Be it remembered that on this 18th day of April A D 1887 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meet in its Council Chamber pursuant to law. The following officers are present to wit: Mayor W H Shoudy and Councilmen J Furth, Joseph Green, T D Hinckley, T W Lake, R Russell & C F Reitze. The minutes of the last meeting were read and approved. Whereupon the following proceedings were had to wit: Petitions etc. Petition of Board of School Trustees of School District No 1 for a sidewalk on Seventh Street from Marion Street to Battery Street. Referred to Street Committee.

None of the members of the Council appearing it is ordered that the Council do now adjourn. W H Shoudy mayor attest W R Forrest clerk Apr 23 1887 To the members of the Common Council of the City of Seattle. Gentlemen:- You and each of you are hereby notified that a special meeting of the Common Council will be held at the Council Chamber on Saturday April 23rd at 2:30 o'clock PM for the transaction of the following business: To consider the matter of granting Frauenthal Bros permission to move certain buildings from Front Street Dated Seattle} Apr 21st 1887} W H Shoudy mayor Pursuant to the foregoing call Council met at the Hour & Place named therein . Present Mayor W H Shoudy and Councilmen J Furth, J M Frink, T W Lake, R Russell & C F Reitze. Petition of Frauenthal Bros for permission to move the Melhorn Block and the building occupied by Fred Gasch from their present location to Lots 10 & 11 in Block E of A A Dennys Addition to Seattle and on motion the same is granted.
