A List of the original subscribers to the "Story Statue" was furnished the Committee by the Treasurer, where it appears that the whole amount of subscription was 3480 dollars. By the Treasurers report, he paid for the statue 5528." it follows, that he must have had at some one time 6518.97 to have the Balance of 990.97 now under consideration. By the annexed list, there appears to be thirteen fourteen surviving original subscribers. Your Committee are of opinion, that it will be necessary to have the consent, not only of the surviving subscribers, but of the representatives of those deceased, to make any disposition for the Balance referred to, but with instruction from the Board. My dear Sir,

I send you 50 proprietors tickets.

Also deeds for Duncan Bradford, Esqr, Mary A. Faden, and of Passageway to Eunice M. Gridley

The deed ordered in name of Charlotte Oxnard cannot be made without putting the title of the lot in her name. By referring to the catalogue you will perceive she only represents it. I believe J. Ingersoll Bowditch is one of the Trustees under the wills - a man impatient of forms - and I should not be surprized if he shd refuse to do anything about it. The addition should be conveyed to the party in whom the legal estate of the lot has vested.

Is there not some mistake about the passagway to B.A. Gould which Mr Mann has described? I remember that in Mr. Gould's lifetime this whole space about 9 to 11 ft. was divided between Mr G. & Dr. Bigelow, and you will see on the catalogue that each has 85 [ft?]. It may that ^ Mr Mann he has discovered more land.

Truly yours A.J. Coolidge Secretary

Left margin: Mrs. Eliz. C. Thayer shd pay $1.00 more for new deed record.

Jona. Mann Esq Supt Mt Auburn

Dear Sir,

Will you please examine the lots described on the accompanying blanks, -457, 479 & 480, - and send me the blanks filled out. Also state what in your judgement should be charged for the perpetual care of each. We are aware that they are in the same enclosure, but the contracts, if made, must be distinct.

Truly yours A. J. Coolidge Secretary.

Edward Austin Esqr

Dear Sir,

The following is a copy of record of doings at the meeting of the Trustees on Monday last:

The President submitted a model of a public monument in memory of the heroes who have fallen in the present war for the preservation of the Union, which he proposed should be erected in the Cemetery, to be paid for either out of the surplus funds of the Corporation, or by obtaining subscriptions for the same, as the Trustees may determine. --

Upon motion by Mr Bowditch, Voted that the subject of this or of any monument for the purpose be referred to a Committee of three, to report upon at the next meeting: and

Messrs Austin, Norcross and Rand were so chosen.

Very Resp.y
