McNaught an appraiser for Condemmation of property along the line of South Eleventh Street in place of H H Lewis who is absent from the City, read and referred to the Judiciary Commitee. Petition of Geo Kinnear and others for change of Fire limits read and referred to Committee on Fire and Water Petition of M Keeton for permission to occupy alley in Block 14 of Maynard's Plat read & on motion refected. Petition of Fred Kelly & others for crossing on Depot Street at Box Street read & referred to Street Commitee. Petition of H Jones and others in the matter of the Fifth Street grade, read and referred to the Street Commitee.

678 JOURNAL OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE Dec 12 1888 rules for inspection of vessels and trains coming into the City. After discussion by the Council on motion of Councilman Nietz the whole matter is referred to the Commitee on Health & Police in conjunction with the Health Officer with full power to to act. On motion of Councilman Rietze Chairman of the Committee on Public buildings and Grounds the plans and specifications for a temporary Hook & Ladder truck house, as submitted by him are approved and the clerk directed to advertise for bids for the construction of the same. On motion of Councilman Nietz the City Treasurer is instructed to make a small payment on each of the outstanding Street Improvement warrants now about to become void by reason of the Statute of limitations as fast as the same are presented to him. On motion of Councilman Durie the matter of all delinquent street grade assessments is left in the hands of the City Attorney and Finance Committee, with power to settle such cases as the may deem advisable. On motion of Councilman Green, the City Surveyor is directed to submit a grade for Front, Mill & Commercial Streets the said grade to admit of basements and sewers above high tide. (near Commercial) beteween Rail Road Avenue and Commercial Street. Said yard is now occuplying the North side of Jackson Street, which is planked thus forcing the heavy teaming to the South side where there is no planking. In all respects the above stone yard is a nuisance and we ask your honorable body to have it removed to the limits of private property as the interests of said yard is in several buildings on adjacent property.

Gentlemen:

I am in receipt of your notification of July 30th appointing me to act as an appraiser on behalf of the owners of property condemed under Ordinance No 1106 providing for the improving of Commercial Street in the City of Seattle from Yesler Avenue to City Limits.

I beg to state - gentle men that previous engagements prevent me fromm accepting this appointment.
