through Marshal Field's Store. Had liquid refreshments at the railroad's expense. Left at 11:30 feeling happy Left on the Erie road. Had a big pillow fight before going to bed. Turned in about 1 A.M. After winning a little at pennie antiy.

montaigne. It is a mighty good thing tht the government is going to house and feed us as we are all about busted. I had to borrow money from Dick Wilson until my $85.oo transportation money come from New York. I telegraphed for it the first day I was in Paris as I came in from the Front with only 60 francs.

One year ago today the M.C. unit sailed from New York. After a fine fast run from Chaumont we arrived at Tours at 9:30 Left Tours at 11 o'clock for St. Pierre, left St. Pierre at 12 o'clock on the Bordeaux express for Portiers. Got into Portiers at 1:45 after a schorching hot ride and had to stand up all the way. Had a wonderful time in Portiers. Bummed around with Percy Brown.

Monday May 20 '18. Left Portiers at 7:17 for St. Maxient. Arrived at 9 o'clock. All the boys that were still left there greeted us with open arms. St. Maxient is a most beautiful place now, with

give us plenty to think about. A german airplane is now flying over us and the anti-aircraft guns are making things hot. The shells are bursting all around the machine. This is a daily occurance so I'll go on with the letter.
