Dear Ma,

Have been waiting a few days before I wrote to see if my name would appear on the list for a discharge but know such luck. They posted a list Sunday and there was some bunch on it. Some say there will be another list but I don't think so.

All the fellows who did not get discharged and the ones who had no affidavites, are so discusted with the place when they asked them if they wanted to change their rating to fireman, they done it. They will get shipped to New York some have been shipped all ready. I will not change because when they get you back there it is no telling how long they will keep you. Yesterday they got me on a swell job. (seaman guard).

New York. -- After a fine fast run from Chaumont we arrived at Tours at 9:50. Left Tours at 11 o'clock for St. Pierre, left St. Pierre at 12 o'clock on the Bordeaux express for Partiers. Got into Partiers at 1:45. Had a wonderful time there. Bummed around with Perc Brown.

Monday May 29, '18.

Left Partiers at 7:17 for St. Maxient. Arrived at 9 o'clock. All the boys that were left greeted us with open arms. The place is beautiful. A real transformation has taken place while we were gone. But I am fortunate enough to get away from him by getting on the M.P. force along with eleven others of our fourty eight fellows that returned from Gondrecourt.

Had a funny trick played on me in a cafe this afternoon. The girl made a mistake and gave
