Thanksgiving In France

Nov. 29th 1917

Dear Ma:

Just a line this morning to wish you happiness and also not to to worry. I received some mail last night and we will get more this morning.

The boys have to work this morning but this afternoon we have our big dinner, foot ball game, and band concert. F Co. is sceduled to play a team from the marines. I will drop you a line tomorrow telling you all about our big day.

I find that the best way to send these pictures is enclosing them in an envelope three or four at a time.

Love to all

Tee

Dear Bro :

Just a line to you know that everything is O.K. Took a little trip into the city yesterday and I had quite a time. I am getting now that I can talk enough to get anything I want. We are going to have quite a dinner to-day everything from soup to nuts.

There are a bunch of coons camped about three blocks from us and they sure are a joke. The promoter of our Co. has been down to see them and they are going to put on a show.

Your Bro

France Dec. 5th 1917

Dear Bro:

Just a line to say hello and to let you know that everything is OK. Put these pictures with the rest of the set. The picture of our captain was taken at Borden. He is telling us to behave ourselves when we go into London the next day. The picture of the beds was taken in one of our camps in France They were sent to us to sleep on, but they were full of bed bugs so we had to take them and spray coal oil on them. It kept me busy all day keeping them supplied with oil.

I hope they are keeping you busy all the time. How are you feeling now?

Love from

Tee

France Dec 5th 1917

Dear Ma:

Just a line to let you know that I am getting along fine. B Co is getting to be the champion movers of the regiment. But I guess we will settle down after while and work harder.

We had a good time thanksgiving day. We had dinner at one o’oclock, and we had everything from soup to nuts. At two thirty F Co played football with the marines and F won 12-0. In the evening the colored regiment stationed near us put on a minstral show. They sang, danced and told stories, the best thing on the program was the dancing. After their program we put on several acts and finished

up by the band playing several pieces. It was the best day we have spent in France. We received mail Monday and I got that box of candy with the safety razor blades wrapped on the outside of the box. The blades just arrived in time because I was going to buy a new razor next week. The cake that you sent didn’t get here yet but I expect it in the next mail.

We are going to get paid tonight but we will not be able to spend any of it for some time. No one is allowed to leave camp unless it is in the line of duty. I don’t know how long this will last but
