Smith, Mayor Be it remembered that on this the 31st day of May, 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets pursuant to the call of the Mayor to take proper precaution to prevent the spread of Smallpox. Present His Honor the Mayor, L. P. Smith, and Councilmen Thos Clancy, John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, John Keenan, Moses Keezer and Chas McDonald. Ordered that the health officer be and he is hereby instructed to proceed to destroy or dispose of the bedding and furniture in the New England Hotel used by certain small pox cases. 81 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Moses Keezer having been a member of the Engine House Committee and having ceased to be a member of the council the vaancy in said committee as caused is filled by the appointment of Charles McDonald Ordered the Council stand adjourned until Friday June 9th 1882 at 7&1/2 o'clock pm Attest: E S Osborne clerk Approved L P Smith Mayor Be it remembered that on the 9thday of june 1882 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its council chamber pursuant to adjournment of June 2nd 1882 Present His Honor the Mayor L P Smith and Councilman John Collins, M Densmore, Wm A Jennings Chas McDonald and G L Manning Thereupon the following proceedings are had A remonstrance is received from A Spaulding and others against the construction of the sidewalk on Eleventh Street and the same is referred to the Street Committee A petition is received from August Mehlhorn praying for the right to lay water pipe along certain Steeets in the City of Seattle. The petition is granted And now come the persons hereinafter named and make application for the licenses hereinafter named from the dates and for the periods hereinafter specified and at the same time said applicants file their several bonds in accordance with the ordinance relative thereto After due examination said bonds are approved and the said applicants making due proof that they are men of good moral character it is therefore ordered that upon their compliance

COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE And now the Street Committee submit a contract between the City and T. P. Roberts for the construction of a sidewalk on Jackson Street; Thereupon said contract is approved and it is ordered that the mayor and clerk be and they are hereby instructed to execute the same on behalf of the City. Ordered that the Marshall be instructed to remove the peanut stand from the corner of Front and James Street. Ordered that E. N. Rea, contractor, be and he is hereby granted the right to land stone, on the Washington Street incline, to be used in the construction of the new City Building. A petition is received from A. A. Bell et al praying that roadway on Tenth and Stewart Streets be changed; thereupon the same is referred to the Street Committee. A petition is received from J.H. Marshall et al praying for the opening of the alley in Block 2, Maynard's plat; thereupon said petition is granted. P. Smith and Councilman John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, Chas McDonald & G.L. Manning Ordered that George Baker be authorized to maintain a peanut stand on James & Front Street. Ordered that a committee consisting of Chas McDonald, Wm. A. Jennings and G. L. Manning be and is hereby appointed to take into consideration the matter of Street Grading the City of Seattle.
