Be it remembered that on this the 9th day of May 1882 at 7 1/2 o'clock p.m., the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets as a Board of Equalization pursuant to adjournment of May 8th 1882

Present His Honor the Mayor L.P. Smith and councilmen Thomas Clancy, John Collins, M. Densmore, Wm. A. Jennings, John Keenan, and Charles McDonald

Thereupon the Council proceeds to the equalization of said general assessment roll for 1882, and to the hearing of all complaints touching the same until adjournment.

And now at 9 1/2 o'clock p.m. the Council adjourns until May 10th 1882 at 7 1/2 o'clock

Be it remembered that on this the 10th day of May 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in the Council Chamber as a board of Equalization pursuant to adjournment of May 9th 1882

Present, His Honor, the Mayor L.P. Smith and Councilmen Thomas Clancy, John Collins, M. Densmore, Wm. A. Jennings, John Keenan, and Charles McDonald

Thereupon the Council proceeds with the exammination and correction of the assessment roll for the year 1882.

Ordered that the Clerk be and hereby instructed to cause written notices to be served by the City Marshall upon the following named persons informing them that the Council propose to increase their respective assessments and that they appear on Monday, May 15th 1882 at 7 1/2 p.m to make known their objections thereto; Framenthal Bros, Schwabacher Bros & Co, Harrington Smith, S. Kenney, C. P. Stone, Boyd & Poncin, L.S. Roma, J.H. Sanderson, Wald & Campbell, F. N. Wusthoff, W Chong.

Ordered that the Council stand adjourned until May 11th 1882.

65 COMMON COUNCILOF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Be it remembered that on this the 11th day of May 1882 the common council of the city of Seattle meets in it Council Chamber as a Board of Equalization pursuant to adjournment of May 10 1882 Present His Honor the Mayor L P Smith and Coucilman Thomas Clancy, John Collins, Wm A Jennings and John Keenan Thereupon the Council proceeds with the equalization of the assessment roll of 1882, pending which Council adjourns until May 12th 1882 Attest E S Osborne Clerk Approved L P Smith Mayor Be it remembered that on this the 12th day of May, 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment of May 5th 1882 Present, His Honor the Mayor L P Smith and Councilmen Thomas Clancy, John Collins, M Densmore Wm A Jennings, John Keenan and Charles McDonald Ordered that Andrew Castro be granted a lease to certain space on the Columbia Street incline for the consideration of $30.00 per year. Ordered that the chairman of the Cemetary Committee be instructed to advertise for bids for slashing City Cemetary And now come persons hereinafter named and make application for the business license after named from the dates and for the periods hereinafter specified and at the same itme & said applicants file their several bonds in accordance with the Ordinance relation thereto. After due examination said bonds are approved and the said applicants making due proof that they are persons of good moral character, it is therefore ordered that upon the completion with all the othere provisions of said Ordinance that Clerk be and he hereby is instructed to issue licenses to said applicants for the periods and purposes following to wit:

67 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Be it remembered that on this the 13th day of May 1882, the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment of May 12th 1882 Present, His Honor, the Mayor L. P. Smith, and Councilmen John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, John Keenan and Charles McDonald Thereupon the following proceedings are had. A petition is received from Chas. [Coffin?] praying for the right to lay water pipe in the Streets and alleys of the City of Seattle. After due consideration said petition is granted and the ordinance committee instructed to submit an ordinance in accordance therewith and containing all necessary and proper provisions. And now the City Attorney submits ordinance No. 275, the same being entitled as follows, to wit: "an Ordinance to amend section three (3) of ordinance No. 273, entitled 'A special ordinance to provide for the grading and improvement of Union Street from the center line of Front Street to the centre line of Eighth Street in the City of Seattle County of King In Territory of Washington'" After due consideration said Ordinance is adopted by the following vote, towit: in favor of adoption John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, John Keenan and Charles McDonald. Ordered that the Council now stand adjourned until May 15th at 7 1/2 pm. 71 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE. petition is granted and the ordinance committee instructed to submit an ordinance providing for the construction as [such?] sidewalk.

And now the Ordinance Committee submit ordinance No. 277, the same being entitled as follows, to wit: "An ordinance to provide for the lighting of the streets "and furnishing the City of Seattle with gas, within "fixed limits." After due consideration said ordinance is adopted by the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Thomas Clancy, John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, John Keenan and Charles McDonald. Against adoption, none. And now the ordinance committee submit ordinance No. 278, the same being entitled as follows, to wit: "An ordinance granting unto Charles Coppin, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns, the right to lay water pipes in all streets and alleys and parts of streets and alleys in the City of Seattle." After due consideration said ordinance is adopted by the following vote, to wit: In favor of adoption Thomas Clancy, John Collins, Wm. A. Jennings, John Keenan and [Charles McDonald]]; against adoption, none. Ordered that the Council now stand adjourned until May 18th, 1882 Attest: E S Osborne, Clerk Approved L. P. Smith, Mayor Be it remembered that on this the 17th day of May, 1882, the Common Council meets in it's council chamber as a Board of Equalization pursuant to adjournment of May 16th, 1882.
