29 COMMON COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SEATTLE Jun 14 1886 Councilman Lake submits a proposal of the Gutta Percha & Rubber Mfg Co for furnishing the City a new hose cart. On motion the matter is referred to the Committee on Fire & Water. The City Surveyor submits plans and specifications for Beach Road Bridge which are adopted and on motion the Clerk is directed to advertise for bids for the Construction of the same, said bid to be filed on or before 4 o'clock pm June 25th 1886 each of said bids to be accompanied by a certifired check for $1000. The mayor approved G W Hall a member of the Jusdiciary Committee in place of John Keenen absent from the City. Ordinances The City Attorney submits an ordinance entitled "An ordinance to locate and establish a Public Street extending from the intersection of Eighth & Plummer Streets to the intersection of Grant and Hinds Streets in the City of Seattle" which afterr due consideration is adopted by the following vote: In favor of said ordinance Calligan, Furth, Hall, Harrington Lake, McDonald and Young. Against none An ordinance is submitted by the City Attorney entitled "An ordinance to Vacate a portion of Tenth Street in Judkins Addition to the City of Seattle" which is passed by the following vote: In favor of the same Calligan, Furth, Hall, Harrington, Lake, McDonald and Young. Against none The Clerk submits an ordinance entitled "A special ordinance appropriating money to pay audited bills" which is adopted passed by the following vote: Ayes Calligan, Furth, Hall, Harrington, Lake, McDonald and Young. The following officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor HL Yesler & Councilmen Calligan, Hall, McDonald & Lake There not being a quorum present it is ordered that council adjourn until tomorrow June 22 at 8o'clock pm H L Yesler mayor Attest W R Forrest clerk Jun22 1886 Be it remembered that on this the 22nd day of June 1886 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to adjournment. The following officers are present to wit: His Honor the Mayor HL Yesler and Councilmen R H Calligan, J Furth, G W Hall, T W Lake, W A Harrington G W Young Thereupon the following proceedings are had Certain alteration in the specifications for the Beach Road which are recommended by the Steet Committee are ordered to be made and are thereupon inserted in the specification by the City Surveyor. Ordered that the City Surveyor be instructed to set sufficient stakes and flags on the Center Line of the Beach Road to plainly indicate the line. An Ordinance is submitted entitled "A special ordinance appropriating monry to pay audited bills" which is passed by the following vote, to wit: In favor of said ordinance Calligan, Furth, Hall, Harrington, Lake, McDonald, Post & G W Young; against none. Ordered that the council do now adjourn H L Yesler, mayor attest W R Forrest clerk July 14 1886 Be it remembered that on this 14th day of July A D 1886 the Common Council of the City of Seattle meets in its Council Chamber pursuant to a notice of the mayor of a special meeting at this time served personally upon each member of the Council, there are present the following officers His Honor the Mayor H L Yesler and councilmen R H Calligan, J Furth, W A Harrington, T W Lake, Chas McDonald & G W Young; when the following proceedings are had to wit: The mayor returns to the council an ordinance entitiled "An ordinance to provide for the construction of a plank road in Grant Street" and authorizing the Mayor and Clerk to execute a contract with A W Burrell therefor" with a message stating his objections and reasons for not approving the same. On motion of Councilman [Furth]] said ordinance is reconsidered and being placed on its final passage is rejected by the following vote: Ayes, none.
